2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2014 Pours a deep dark color with a small tan head. Aromas are roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, sour fruits, earth. Strange acid and mettalic aftertaste. Really not my favourite beer from Ninkasi.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark bodied with small light brown lace. Sweet licorice, bay leave, funky, even fig and sour compote. Drinkable body, normal carbonation. Definitely a sour funky taste, unusual and not sure if it’s supposed like to this. I like it myself, but it’ll certainly not be everyone’s taste. (33cl bottle from Au Nom De La Bière)

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Noire (Black in French).
Indeed, this pours deep black with a beige foam head.
Nose is soft, with chocolate and caramelized notes.
Mouth is sweet, a bit acid and metallic, not dry enough to be a stout, not strong enough to be a Belgian Brown, something inbetween without style nor depth.
It is not a bad beer, but not a great beer either.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 33 cl, from the bar. Pours dark brown black with a great tanned head leaving plenty of lace. Aroma is bready, slightly roasted malty, vanilla, chocolate, some coffee and bready. Flavor is acidy fruity in front, sweetness and roastiness with fruits comes more dominant in the middle finishing with sweet bitter aftertaste.

Bottle 33cl from Mondial de la Bière. A dark beer with medium head, nose is on caramel and soy sauce. Aroma is on spices and burnt caramel, watery with some dusty bitterness, not really nice, ashes and paint product notes.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl bottle bought in the Gerland neighbourhood, ’bbe’ July 2012. Dark red brown with a small beige head that laces moderately. Aroma of cocoa powder, nuts, nutmeg, fruit, banana, a hint of black tea. Sweetish taste dominated by dark malts, revealing lots of bitter, dark chocolate and finishing on fruity and herbal notes with chocolatey bitterness lingering on. A moderate body.
