3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pineapple, mango, and papaya in a red ipa..whoa, that’s creative! Aroma is slightly fruity, but I wouldn’t be able to pull out those aromas. Clear red/amber color. Sips nice and lively with nice hop presence. Body is medium to full and the middle and finish bring the malt to compliment the sweetness and hops. Slight watery body in the finish is my only complaint. Dry and sweet balance in the finish as well. Nice double ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy in appearance. Amber in color with a minimal head that has poor lacing. The aroma has some vanilla, licorice, and orange zest. Slick texture with medium carbonation. Refreshing on the palate with a easy finish. Its a tad bit salty to me. The more i drink it the more it has some bitterness which to me is a bonus. It was better than i expected.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap in Seattle at Taphouse Grill. Pint glass. Appearance is a copper/amber color with a healthy white head. Laces well. Aroma is mostly hop forward with a citrus nature. Taste has elements of grapefruit and a touch of tropical fruit. There is almost a double IPA quality at work. Malty sweetness present but bitterness is at the finish. Definitely a good option in the red IPA category. Looking forward to more from this brewery during the West Coast Brewery Road Trip.

Bottle to pint glass
Grapefruit, spruce, light tropical fruit,
Slightly reddish amber with a thin creamy off white head with a few extraneous bubbles. There’s a moderate amount of effervescence. Taste is grapefruit, tropical fruit, spruce, pine, and grass with a full on bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is more of a hazy orange with a average white head. Aroma is a pungent dank hop. Flavor is a fruity almost berry hop with a bit of caramel malt there to balance things out. Finish is a nice piney resinous hop finish. This was a decent beer. Not a huge malt or hop presence but still plenty flavorful.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, shared by Grippitis. Medium golden body, average white head. Sweet tropical fruit with grassy undertones, assertive bitterness. How is this an IRA? No crystal malt, no caramel-- missing the maltiness that I want in a red ale.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a bottle. Pours a light golden-red and makes an off-white head with great lacing down the glass. Smells of malt and citrus and hops. Tastes of citrus and hops, but more like an IPA with some malt than a true red. Good beer though.

This beer was little overrated for Ninkasi. Did Anheiser Busch ruin the quality of the brewery?

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a lightly hazy orangish copper with a small white ring. Great aroma of tropical fruits, papaya, mango, passionfruit, can and light burnt sugar. Taste is tropical fruits, mango, passionfruit, papaya, caramel with a burnt character on the finish that lasts into the finish... This would be a great red ipa if you could get rid of that light harshness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
skunky, resin aroma, wood smoke & caramel, clashy mix. clash more of an issue with the flavor--resin, smoke, grapefruit rind, caramel. hoppier than expected, milder in the malt aspects.
