COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A salute to the playful side of summer, we had fun with this beer! Maiden the Shade has a big robust hop character from the liberal use of 7 different varieties of hops. It s completed with a light colored malt backbone to stay in balance. Kick back and enjoy!

Reminds me of founder all day ipa. Grassy and hoppy the whole way through. Pours an amber orange with a light head.

Grumbler purchase from Breeze-IN, Juneau, AK. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice hazy golden yellow to orange color allowing a fairly decent carbonation to be seen rising throughout the beer. The smell had a decent amount of bitter citrus hops and a slight grassy note rolling underneath. There are some light sweet malts coming through as it warms. The taste was mainly sweet through a combination of the citrus hops and grassiness to the malts. However, the bitterness does come back to make a play on my taste buds to add just a touch of itself to the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. I was hoping it would have been more sessionable. I mean the sessionability seemed to be there for the most part but I thought this would have been more. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA worthy of having again but probably not worth the hype that surrounds it.

Bottle. Pours a hazy copperish color with a moderate white head on it. Nose has some really nice and fresh grass and citrus notes to it, making it seem very summery. Taste is moderately bitter, yet manages to be very light and thirst quenching. Really nice summer beer.

Draft at alewife. Pours a clear orange golden body with thin white head. Aroma is light citrus. Nose is pretty plain overall. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with medium plus carbonated feel on the palate followed by flavors of citrus hops, citrus candy, light prickly spice and light wheat.

Bottle: yellow golden pour with large creamy white head. Aroma is citrusy pine with a touch of pineapple. Flavor is mostly dry with lemon, grass, hay, and finishes with a touch of honey. I like the flavors. It goes through a variety of grasses and has a linger bitter finish.

22oz bomber pours with a clear gold body that supports a nice white head of foam. The aroma offers up some yeast, lemon and lime and then a bit of malty sweetness on the back end. The taste is a little yeasty too where there is an edge of spicy yeastiness as well as a mix of lemon and lime and some malt sweetness that tries to bind all of this together. It may not sound like it but this comes across as a pretty tasty IPA with some decent hop bitterness mix with malts and mild hop flavor.
