Flagship Series. Just in time for the rainy weather... Season’s Greetings from Ninkasi! The Holidays are about family and Otis is the newest member of the Ninkasi family. This Oatmeal Stout is named after Otis, the black lab of our working brewer and part owner. Rich robust flavor, silky oatmeal body, and cheek-warming strength fights off the cold winter months. Whether you’re with family, friends, or alone, Oatmeal Stout is perfect for warming the heart.

Pours dark brown....almost cola like, but very minimal head. Big roasty malt aroma with a bit of coffee. Nice creamy body. Good solid stout with appropriate roasted flavor, coffee, hint of chocolate, toffee and earthiness.

Black pour with a lasting foamy sticky light khaki head. Lovely semisweet roasty nose with a touch of coffee and chocolaty oatmeal--and roast. The flavor is kinda dark and roasty, lightly bitter, earthy malty, semi dry, and clean creamy finishing. Good, not great.

There was no smoke with this beer and it poured a black with a thick tan head that left a good amount of lacing. The aroma is nuttiness, dark fruits, dark roasted malts, dark chocolate. The taste is creamy, dark roasted malts, minimal bitterness, dark fruits, dark chocolate. I was expecting this beer to be a little more sweet from the aroma.

Bottle. Pours black with deep tan head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, a little roast. Taste is smooth, full bodied, touch of bitterness on the finish, high carbonation. Overall, good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin, poorly retained beige head, with slight lacing, oveer a clear brownish black (SRM 35) body.....nose is roasted malts, with coffee, chocolate notes, herbal hops, balance to the malts....taste is slightly sweet, with hints of toffee/caramel, strong roasted malts, with coffee, chocolate notes, finishing with a lingering, roasted coffee, herbal hop bitterness......mouth feel, medium body, creamy carbonation, slight alcohol warmth. This is listed as a Sweet Stout by the rating system, but the brewery calls it an Oatmeal Stout. It is minimally sweet, with strong roasted malt character, and mouth feel is very consistent with an Oatmeal Stout. It is a good Oatmeal. BJCP 8/3/14/5/7

On tap at the Shamrock in Pueblo. Pour is deep brown with a big brown head and great lacing. Roasty, oaty, light vanilla, somewhat earthy, coffee, and cocoa in the aroma. Taste is roasty, some grass, lighty espresso, vanilla, and hoppy with a light bitter bite on the backend. Medium body with high carbonation. Decent stuff.

taste is quite sweet, but it has lingering bitterness. Caramel and toffee are noticeable.

Rated based on notes taken 25 Mar 2012 -- My first Ninkasi beer! A good stout that is heavy on the chocolate malts.

Very silky. Aroma is olives in brine, and flavour is brunt toast, oat malts and,... not much more. Pretty much uni-dimensional. Not my favourite.
