Pours beautifully with a perfect head. Aroma is faint of chocolate and coffee grounds. The flavor is very good, it starts out smooth and then goes sweet. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

On tap at Kin. Pours a dark black color with some beige head. Mild roasted malt and hops. Mildly sweet. Nicely balanced.

Oatis encompasses all of the best aspects of the Oatmeal Stout. Rich, smooth, sweet - it’s all here. The note of chocolate - brownie-like and fused with some coffee roast - is brilliant. While the hops are present enough to wash the palate, Oatis never lets you forget that it’s a malty, creamy brew. A killer option for pairing with dessert, Oatis is an awesomely balanced Stout with warmth and velvety sleekness to spare.

Choc and sweet almost grainy flavor come from this deep brown brew with a light brown head. The flavor is choc and sweetness with that slight oatmeal flavor in the end. The bitterness comes at the end and in good combo. It’s a pretty decent full bodied brew with a good carb. And a slight dry flavor/mouthfeel at then end.

Pretty good, but not my favorite. I wish it was creamier and less bitter. However, still very enjoyable.

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with dissipating tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma is nice roast and dark chocolate, a nice earthy oat and soy back end. Taste is more coffee than earth, but still nice rounded balance. Solid, mild carbonation, nothing crazy but decent.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours inky black with thin mocha head. Aroma is dry dark chocolate malt and soy sauce. Taste is dark roasty malt, thicky earthy oaky flavor, umami, with light barrel-aged notes throughout. Very smooth mouthfeel. I think this was the barrel-aged version, which cuts the sweetness of this beer considerably and adds some rich balance to this. And is overall much better than the standard version. Vanilla, which jumps out of the regular Oatis, is muted here. Nice beer, still Ninkasi’s forte seems to be the lighter bodied varieties.

Creamy velvet stout. Oatmeal vanilla and chocolate notes. Black pour with white foamy head. Delicious. Poured from draft at union ale in Santa Barbara.

Bottle. Mild aroma of vanilla, cocoa, and dark roasted malts. Meduim body, a little bitter up front. This beer is a session ale for when you need to walk straight after leaving the bar.

Bottle at the hotel room in San Diego. Very dark brown beer with a nice lasting beige/brownish head. Roasted cocoa and coffee aroma, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, some figs. Malty caramel flavor, chocolate, cocoa, roasted, some coffee. Drinkable but a bit too sweet.
