Awesome offering by Ninkasi. Very balanced stout. I recommend it to someone looking for a stout that isn’t bitter.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours VERY dark with a small head. Nice tasting with a bit of a dry finish. A slight taste of chocolate with a pretty high alcohol content...good for a cold night!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep black color, nearly opaque. Aroma is yeast, roasted hops, and a toasty malt. Flavor is rather sour up front, but quickly turns into a backside of sweetness. Palate is quite thick. Overall an excellent stout, and a great cold-weather beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is a black with a average tan head. Aroma is a nice roasty, toasty dark malt. Flavor is more of that thick roasted malt with a little chocolate and coffee. Leaves a nice thick roasted malt residue on the tongue as this goes down. A very thick but heavily roasted oat goodness.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
nose: like a concentrated black butte porter. perfect.
palate: this is everything i want in a stout. strong cocoa but not too sweet, not roasted to starbux levels where it’s just charcoaly and bitter, super aromatic, not over-hopped, great creamy carbonation to offset the sweetness and long pleasant cacao finish. beautiful on so many levels. i was hesitant to give it a perfect score but i’ve had too many stouts that were just gross.
