Serving: from tap at A Terrible Beauty. Aroma: light coffee and chocolate aroma. Appearance: very small, light-brown, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark-brown/black body. Taste: moderately acidic initial flavor and moderately acidic, lightly bitter finish with heavily roasted aftertaste and average duration. Palate: medium body with oily texture, very soft carbonation and lightly alcoholic finish. Overall: didn’t really like it much.

taste is quite sweet, but it has lingering bitterness. Caramel and toffee are noticeable.

Rated based on notes taken 25 Mar 2012 -- My first Ninkasi beer! A good stout that is heavy on the chocolate malts.

Very silky. Aroma is olives in brine, and flavour is brunt toast, oat malts and,... not much more. Pretty much uni-dimensional. Not my favourite.

12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Strong toasty and smokey aroma. Taste is sweet roasted malts with hints of coffee, cocoa, smoke and toast. Robust and flavorful stout. Not bad.

Awesome offering by Ninkasi. Very balanced stout. I recommend it to someone looking for a stout that isn’t bitter.

Pours VERY dark with a small head. Nice tasting with a bit of a dry finish. A slight taste of chocolate with a pretty high alcohol content...good for a cold night!

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep black color, nearly opaque. Aroma is yeast, roasted hops, and a toasty malt. Flavor is rather sour up front, but quickly turns into a backside of sweetness. Palate is quite thick. Overall an excellent stout, and a great cold-weather beer.

Pour is a black with a average tan head. Aroma is a nice roasty, toasty dark malt. Flavor is more of that thick roasted malt with a little chocolate and coffee. Leaves a nice thick roasted malt residue on the tongue as this goes down. A very thick but heavily roasted oat goodness.
