COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Highly drinkable and with a slight malty sweetness, Dortmund-style lagers were first brewed in 19th century Dortmund, Germany and were favored by the city’s industrial workers. Ours is golden in color with a clean balance, perfect for enjoying after a hard day’s work or anytime. Cheers!

The first taste is funky, kind of disgusting, but the aftertaste is smooth like butter.

After getting over that this is indeed NOT an Oktoberfest, and I stop wondering why in the hell they would name a non-marzen that...it’s actually a pretty nice brew. Yellow pour with good lacing, aroma clean of cereal, grain, floral hops. Fizzy crisp feel. Taste is slightly sweet and has more grainy malt than hops, but is well balanced. Good example of a session beer that is not boring."

Bottle:   Soft hazy straw, moderate to large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Soft straw/hay on the nose, very clean.   Smooth and grassy on the tongue, clean, very soft pale bready notes.   These guys churn out some good light lager type beers.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Finishes a touch dry, straw/hay linger.   Very clean, smooth, a bit heavier than most, with a nice amount of sweetness.   Very nice!

Poured from tap to glass. Crystal clear straw hue with fizzy white head. Aroma is floral, honey, lager esters, slight metallic. Mouthfeel is nice and refreshing with a light body and great carbonation. Taste is clean with slightly sweet initial with a slight hop bitterness and CO2 sharpness. Overall, this is a really nice Oktoberfest.

12 oz bottle- Pours mostly clear golden with little particles floating around and a one finger head that doesn’t seem to want to stick around. Aroma is crisp and clean, but not a whole lot there, a little floral. The taste is grainy, moderately bitter and dry hops, clean and crisp. Body is medium low. Decent.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Earth and malt aroma with light grass. Malt and light caramel flavor with light lemon. Medium bodied. Malt and light caramel lingers with light lemon and light mineral notes.

HQT Octoberfest. Growler. This was a pretty good German style lager. Clear, crisp... Easy drinking with not over powering German beer aroma and aftertaste. Palate was really good... perfect carbonation and texture... what you would expect from a seasonal lager.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass. Brassy yellow with sparkly clarity and halo of tight white bubbles. Aroma shows solid sweet malt core with faint buttered popcorn note (coming from malt sweetness, not fermentation flaw). Strikes me as between what you want in a kolsch and a pilsner. Spicy hop character mid palate with slightly bitter and drying mouthfeel to finish followed by latent malt sweetness. Also, a mineral quality (from yeast ?). Lean (not thin) bodied, cleanly-lagered, dynamic and refreshing.

Draft at GABF 2013. Main diacetyl butter in the nose, otherwise it’s a clean presentation of toasted pilsner malt with a just-baked biscuit quality. 6-8 weeks lagered I’m told. Some vitamin yeast mineral roughness for me, but malt is creamy and savory and not overly sweet, something that’s rare in American made lade. Quenching acid, balanced bitterness.

12 oz bottle from a six pack bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Aroma is bready, rubbery, sugar cookies. Pours golden with a light haze; has a medium white head that falls after a minute or two into a skiff of foam. Taste is lightly sweet, finishing a little dry; a light bitter hop character comes through in the finish after it warms up a little. Thin-bodied, highly carbonated. Good beer, but why in the hell did they label this Oktoberfest? Makes no sense to me, being in the Dortmunder style.
