R&D Serkes. This is a Ninkasi take on a Baltic Porter, a style imported to Britain from the Baltic region in the 18th century. Historically brewed extra rich, malty and sweet, these beers were designed to ensure their flavors survived the voyage across the Baltic Sea. We brewed ours with Pilsner, Munich, Chocolate, Carafa, and roasted barley malts and added Chinook, Galena and Falconer’s Flight hops. Cheers to the journey ahead!

Had off tap at wob cap hill, left over from ninkasi brewery night. Pours a dark brown to black opaque. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, roasted malt, and anise. Initially sweet malt caramel and chocolate with a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is low. Middle and finish have slight dryness. Hop bitterness is more assertive than in a eastern European Baltic porter. Roasted malt and dark malt flavors are pronounced and the finish lingers with dark chocolate, and bitter dryness. Has a ale yeast like spiciness..wondering if it is lager or ale.

On tap @ Provisions Market. Very dark brown, almost black in color with a khaki head. Roasted malt, coffee, and a bit of ash on the nose. Decent chocolate and some earthy hops. Flavor is a touch bitter and ashy. Lots of earth, roast, and cocoa powder/dark chocolate. Just kind of okay.

5 zx flight from a tap takeover at Provisions Market, not much happening with the smell, deep dark color with some nice lacing on the snifter. Not a whole lot of flavor, a bit of malt and some slight alcohol and hops in the finish, nothing great

Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Roast and nutty aroma. Chocolate and light earthy flavor with light roasty/toastiness. Medium bodied. Chocolate lingers with light roast/toast/nuttiness.
