Ninkasi Total Domination IPA

In short: A sweet IPA with a not-so-dominating floral and fruity hopping. Kind of boring.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed fresh soon after purchase on the west-coast. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Cloudy blonde-orange body topped by a very small white head
In long: Floral perfumy nose with soapy notes. Boring crakers-like maltiness with a lot of sweetness. Floral and fruity hops lack assertiveness. Some minerals. A short fruity bitterness but not enough to push the sweetness away. I might just be me because I think I was the only one who really didn’t care for this beer at our tasting. Total Deception IPA.

Amber colored. Aroma is typical PNW with grapefruit, citrus, pine. Crystal and caramel malt backing, medium bodied, quite drinkable. Nice example, pretty fruity.

Bottle from Hashigo Zake. Pours Hazy golden amber, thin off white head. Citric aroma of grapefruit, lemon, sweet malt and pine.
Flavour is full of fruit. initial sweetness is overtaken by bitter hops near the finish making this quite the balanced drop. Like fruit juice with a long bitter finish.

Pours a deep yellow. Loads of grapefruit, citrus, lemon and caramel. Flavor is same, grapefruit, sweet oranges, lemon peel, pine hops. Residual bitterness and sweet caramel.

GABF 2009, Medium yellow/orange pour. Notes of leafy weedy hops, Hop dominated, slight hop harshness, perhaps a hint of malts are needed to cut that, OTW a pretty good IPA

Not a lot of hops in the aroma. Good appearance. Flavor is a quite spicy hop. A good flavor from start to finish and a solid IPA.

Gift from Donfardz64 - What a pal :) Pours a nice amber with a large rocky head that turns sticky and fluffy. Smells Awesome - Piny, resiny, grassy hops and lots of them. Very much like grapefruit and lemon. A nice caramel malt base, but slightly obscured by the big hops. The first mouthful is dominated by a big hop bitterness, which coats the mouth and lasts with a hint of spice. The bitterness is overpowering at first but as your palate adjusts the flavours come through much stronger. The malt then comes through, which is sweet and helps balance the hops. Nice bitter finish with lasting pineapple and passionfruit esters mingling with citrus hops.
