TimE (1300), Tokyo, Japan May 23, 2009 The nose has bready, earthy notes, with a touch of grapefruit. Full bodied with lots of caramel and grapefruit. Fairly straightforward, but balanced IPA. Moderate bitter finish. Fairly drinkable without being over the top. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden May 23, 2009 Draught at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo, Japan. Lightly hazy bronze colour, small head. Light citric hops upfront. Medium bodied with clean caramelly malt. Slightly salty with shallow simplistic malt character barely covered in a thin blanket of citric hops. Capa (955), Yokosuka, Japan May 11, 2009 Copper orange with a nice white head. Citrus, oranges, light caramel malts, grapefruit in the aroma. Real smooth- nearly muted bitterness compared to aroma. Orange, grapefruit, caramel malts. Not too bitter. The aroma and flavor don’t mesh in bitterness projection. Having said that, it’s a very nice IPA. Super refreshing and easy drinking. Gromit (460), Port Orchard, Washington, USA May 3, 2009 This isn’t the best IPA I’ve ever had, but it’s very, very good.
Nice color and one of the best lacing left on the glass that I’ve seen in quite a while. Aroma is fruity but not just citrus. Flavor is well balanced with the malt, and it’s not just citrus slamming the taste buds, which is a nice change.
Palate isn’t the typical crisp finish, so it loses points here. It’s actually a bit creamy, but not overly so.
Overall, this is a solid beer, but doesn’t line up perfectly with the standard profile so its rating suffers from that, but it’s definitely a great beer. Props to Jaime. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 30, 2009 Draft at Siskiyou Micro Pub. Nose of floral and citrus hops. Hazy amber orange with a big off white head. Flavor and finish is hop bitterness. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 25, 2009 Bottle from Malt & Vine. Very pleasant hoppy aroma with citrus mixed in. Pours a dark translucent golden. Good hops flavor and very clean finish. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Apr 20, 2009 Bomber. A good but not standout IPA. Hazy golden orange color with a frothy white head. Aroma of floral and citrusy hops. Flavor is malt (less sweet than usual for the style), floral hops, spices, and hemp. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Apr 19, 2009 4/18/09 at Hops and Props, Seattle, Wa. Aroma is light and very citrusy with a bit of watermelon. Appearance is hazy orange with a well maintained white head. Flavor is light for an IPA with malt balance being near even to bittering with a lingering watrmelon finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with spritzy carb texture. Overall, quite good, but might not be big enough to satisfy some of the big IPaA crowd.
