Tricerahops is double everything you already love in an IPA. More hops, more malt body and a higher gravity define this Double India Pale Ale. Fiercely flavorful, guaranteed to satisfy.

650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent copper color with a small off-white head that gradually recedes to a fine film. The aroma is relatively light with pine, citrus and sawdust. The flavor is overtly biter with piney hops, grapefruit, biscuit, and caramel malts. The palate is full and malty with lively carbonation. The finish is long and biter-sweet. Overall: A very fine IPA, quite enjoyable.

Bomber from BevMo in Sunnyvale. Pours clear copper with a one-finger white head that leaves a ring as long as the beer lasts. Aroma is a very nice west coast style hop character. Orange peel, pine, and weed as well as sweet malt. Flavor is great and very hop-forward and rough. Feels like there are whole leaf hops in there with the beer. Orange peel and grapefruit rind, the wacky tobacky, and some resins. Very nice palate, with hop oils nearly stripping your enamel off. Medium bodied for a DIPA; not syrupy. Overall this is a very nice DIPA in the west coast style. Drinkable. For about $4 a bomber, it’s one of the better values out there.

Bottle, shared with parksy. Pours a lovely red-orange topped by an orange tinted cap that generates heavy lace. Initial aroma is fresh grapefruit and toffee candy. As it warms, more vegetal/herbal tones come forward. Heavy, sticky palate with sweet toffee malts and lots of juicy tropical fruit hop character. A tad heavy, but the flavours are nice.

Golden-bronze. Herbal-minty aroma with some syrupiness. Minty and herbal with light citrus and tropical fruit. Some malt stickiness but more balanced than the nose hints. Nice brew - could use some brightness.

Bottle. Bright copper with thick beige head. Looks and smells heavy and syrupy. Not the most inviting nose, as it smells like beer concentrate or concentrated papaya mango guava juice. Thick palate does leave a good coating of hop esters on the tongue...ends up finishing and being a lot cleaner than it smells. Still with the sugary fruit juice but the oily estery hop juice prevails in the end. It becomes more syrupy as it warms but is still a well-done 2IPA.

Thanks to brewolf for this! The pour produces a mostly clear medium gold body that easily throws up a tall, 3-dimensional white head that coats the side of the glass as it reluctantly sinks into the brew below. Big juicy malts aromas try to come from beneath the pine and citrus hops that dominate. The flavor is well balanced between the hop bitterness and the malt sweetness, maybe a touch to the bitter side but not by much. Some nice dryness comes across the tongue as it finishes. I’ll have another!

Ninkasi Brewery Tricerahops Double IPA Pours orange with very little head and minimal lacing. Actually a little on the oily side. Aroma is mostly oranges and hops with a little bit of wort and earth. Flavor is bittersweet with a citrusy tang. Finishes long and medium bitter. Enjoyable DIPA, but not the greatest. Brewery is located in Eugene, Oregon, home of University of Oregon. Go Ducks!

8/27/09 On draft at Hopunion Hop School. Aroma is super-citrus grapefruit forward with a caramel background. Appearance is hazy orange-yellow with a moderate maintained white head. Flavor is simpler than aroma, earth-sweet, with high bittering that doesn’t linger. Mouthfeel is medium-high bodied with a medium carb texture and peppery bite. Overall, a big brew that could lose some harshness and easily be one of the best out there.

Amber colour with reasonable head. Big whiff of hops straight away, lovely! Very well balanced this beer, has loads of pungent fresh hop aroma that carries through o the palate but the malt is there all the way to help it along. very nice!

On draught at Ninkasi dinner in SF at Monk’s Kettle. Pours a sunset orange with amber. Full white head that lingers. Massive hop aroma of citrus and pine. Beautifully balanced. Surprisingly medium to thin body. Pallate is a well balanced mix of mostly piney hops and some malt backbone make this a very drinkable double.
