Flagship Series. A delicious Oatmeal Stout with just enough hops to balance the copious quantities of dark roasted malts, oatmeal for a creamy smooth drinkability, and whole vanilla beans for a rich complexity.

On tap at St. Augistine’s. Pours a very dark brown with a brown head. Aroma brings out chocolate cake note with vanilla notes. Same character taste and aftertaste with hoppy and burnt malt bitterness. Excellent!

Decent, if maybe a little underwhelming. Pours very dark brown, no real head. The aroma is bitter baker’s chocolate, but it’s very restrained. The flavor is restrained, too. I don’t pick up on the usual rich, cereal malt thing that I enjoy about oatmeal stouts. The front of the tongue is watery, but the finish is a little better. A little bitter, roasted malt, and just the slightest hint of vanilla show up on the back end.

Visual: Part of a 4-pack, mixed bombers. Pours jet black with a quickly dissipating small head, a thin layer of retention, a few bubbles here and there. Nose: sweet medium roasted caramel barley malt, prominent vanilla (lvl-8)-pungency Attack: slick-oily-thick, crisp bite Mid-palate: thick liquid deep roast barley malt, (lvl-6-sweetness), background dissipating tangy sour, milk sugars Finish: chocolate, vanilla, lingering roasted bitter intermixed with bitter hops Summary: A deliciously decadent mix of dark roasty chocolate vanilla - great balance, drinkability, and complexity. Lots of flavours you can focus individually on.

12oz ppur from chilled bomber into shaker. Dark, opaque, smooth brown head, but a bit thin. Sweet roasty vanilla nose. Creamy smooth body. Taste is awesome. Cake sweet, vanilla, a nice lasting bitterness. Delicious.

Location: 22 oz bottle obtained through Tavour Appearance: Deep brown black. smaller head of tan bubbles. Nose: Sweet. dark chocolate. Malt forward. Obligatory vanilla notes. Taste: toasted oats, roast nut, some coffee. Vanilla and some chocolate bitters Body: medium to full and creamy Parting thoughts: First beer from a highly regarded brewery. Solid above average. Not otherworldly though.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2016 Draft at Bru Craft. Pitch black pour with a thick top of khaki foam. Messy rows of lace. Glossy dark roasted malts. Milky dark cocoa. Vanilla hazelnut coffee. The oats fill out the body nicely. Hints of tree nuts and burnt toast. Solid but not extraordinary.

Nice sweet aroma of vanilla, roast, dark fruit and oats. Surprisingly boozy in the scent. Flat black color with a big pillow of light brown foam. Tastes more roasty than sweet with the same dark fruit characteristics as in the aroma. Slightly bitter in the aftertaste. Average palate, a little watery. This was just ok. I disagree with the high rating.
