beastiefan2k (1120), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jan 13, 2008 Wow, only the second U.S. rating, beaten out by sheatripper, a fellow NYer. Different label, applied by Shelton Bros. and it states the beer is brewed in a castle, cool. The beer pours a dark murky brown color with amber highlights, absolutely no clarity. The medium head is at first very bubbly but fades rather quickly and leaves nothing behind. Aroma is a mix of light topical fruit and dark plum/raisin fruits. There is an light airy brown sugar/black bread. Taste is similar to the aroma, not very sweet because the plum/raisin dark fruits comes in at the end of the flavor. A lightly thick body offset by a strong carbonation (actually tickles my tongue because I just ate a lot of garlic). Makes the beer very easy drinking. 11.2 oz bottle (cap stamped L1010909, maybe best by 01/09), Corsendonk tulip glass. thornecb (1141), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Dec 25, 2007 Pours deep amber into a tulip. Offwhite head recedes to skim surface. Fruity caramel and spices from front to back. faroeviking (4414), Faroese Autonomous Beer Republic, Denmark Dec 28, 2007 Bottle. Enjoyed with great 70s tunes. Pours a red-amber hazy colour with a huge creamy long lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel, yeast, hops, and toasted malt. Nice soft caramel toasty flavour with yeast, bitter hops, ripe fruits, spices and slight liquorice. Well lasting toasty spiced fruity finish. notalush (2077), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Feb 28, 2008 33cl bottle with a different label - very cloudy amber beer, with loads of large suspended particles that kind of look like grains of sand floating around - aroma of tropical fruits (mango, orange), peels and all, along with strong candi sugar presence and a very mild acidity - fairly soft carbonation, with a much more mild sweetness than the aroma suggests - slight acidity, apparent yeastiness, some peppery qualities, hints of fruit rinds - the spicy/peppery quality builds and becomes quite strong in the finish - lingering yeasty/bready notes - quite nicely balanced, although the spices come on a little strong at times - tasty.
