The one thing that stood out to me the most about this beer is how much jalapeño meat came through in the flavor. Alot of times, with pepper beers that is, you get a decent amount of capsaicin coating the lips and throat for a delicious burn, but you don’t always get much flavor from the actual pepper itself. Most of the time it depends on the style and the varieties of pepper used. And, in my opinion, when a brewer makes a lighter-bodied ale it’s sometimes awkwardly balanced. I think this turned out very well-balanced. The body itself is not too light, and not too heavy, but just thick enough to support both the flavor of the pepper flesh and the effects of the spice. There’s no doubt that the jalapeños are the featured ingredient, and they take front stage. Nothing’s getting in their way, but rather complimenting. A strong, but comfortable burn hits the throat first, and only after a third of the bottle does the burn hit the lips. And when it does it seems to do so simultaneously with an almost crystallized sugar-type sweetness. Although it’s incredibly easy to drink, I wouldn’t suggest drinking more than one of these at a time. The meaty thickness of the peppers is persistent, and although it’s somewhat light-bodied, it does weigh you down. Besides... those of us that have to watch our acid intake should always remember the rule of moderation.

The jalapeño comes on strong early and hits the back of the throat. Not too hot. Just there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Peppery aroma that lends itself to darkness. Appearance is a dark bronze with a white head. Taste is a spicy ale. You get plenty of jalapeño spice, but not too much. That's about it. Palate is spicy... Imagine that. Overall, a decent beer. Not too hot with good spice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Location: Draft at BRC Gastropub, 12/5/13

Aroma: The aroma has some pepper/spice, caramel malts, and a bit of earth
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden-orange color with an off-white head
Flavor: This one has a nice pepper flavor, with the pepper is present, but not overpowering
Palate: The body is medium with a pretty decent mouthfeel to it
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid jalapeno beer. There’s enough balance here to keep the spice from overpowering. I enjoyed this. I like the in-balance feel of the spice.

Bottle:   Amber, dirty, hazy, but fiery in the sunlight, thin sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Yeah, that’s some spicy chile’s on the nose.   Smells like a Jalapeno even!   Soft sweetness up front, followed by some moderate jalapeno heat.   I like that this one isn’t overly done.   The heat does build up as you go along, but its clean and well balanced.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   The sweetness is what balances this one out and makes it smoother to drink.   Pretty tasty SPICY brew!   Thanks Bill!

Pours a little orangey with a thin white head. Nose is malty. Jalapeño comes through in the nose while sipping, but the flavor backbone is mild malty sweetness. Medium body, lively carbonation. Decent brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
