This big, bold copper-colored ale showcases Munich & Crystal malts to create a big supportive body on which we layer our favorite Washington hops. Chinook & Cascade provide citrus and piney flavors, while Northern Brewer adds a hint of mint. Dry-hopping with Cascade and Columbus increases the beer’s hoppy aromas. Malt, hops and yeast-derived fruitiness combine to create our most complex offering.

Pours slightly hazy pale amber with a fat finger of rocky light beige head, good retention and excellent lacing. (5/5) Nose is pithy grapefruit, caramel malt, pine resin, apricot and other fruit, hint of honey. (8/10) Taste is medium sweet, strong bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, slick and mildly warming finish. (4/5) An upstart of an IPA with a DIPA attitude. Hops and malt trade places with alternating sips, but it’s all citrus and piney bitterness in the finish, with just a mild warming from the moderately beefy ABV. Some might consider it a hop bomb at 85IBU, but for me it’s a solid and well-built performer, with emphatic but not overwhelming bitterness. I might be being a little generous here, but not by a lot. (15/20)

from a bottle can smell big dull ipa clear over here. a darker ipa fer sure but certainly not black. wew, packs a pine flavored spruce ipa impact fer sure. strong bitter almost astringent after taste following each swig. on style except for that sharp astringent palate on the finish. yes, rudeness borders on double ipa or triple territory with its rude penetrating ipa finish, wew. difficult to absorb.

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with lasting, rocky, beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried apricots, orange marmalade, caramel, candy sugar, honey and pine needles. Malty, fruity taste with dried apricots, orange peel, pink grapefruit, caramel, bitter orange marmalade, pine needles and a generous citric/piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Well made and tasty IPA with a solid grapefruity bitterness and malt to back it up. Very nice.

Bottle shared during the IoW Jolly. Pours clear, deep gold, effervescent, with a tan cream head. Dank citrus in the aroma with some secondary notes of herbs and pine. Medium sweet flavor with grassy bitterness, oily pine, papaya, grapefruit and orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately resinous to conclude, with orange, toasty pale malts and sticky pine. Good one.

650ml brown bottle. Orange colour, light haziness. Creamy and rocky white cap. Nose has big citrus hops. Taste has grain, caramel, a little toasty, orange peels, pine. Long bitter finish, the aftertaste has some pithy hops, a little herbal and piney. Medium body, soft carbonation. All around a good IPA.
