4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours hazy reddish brown with a beige-white thick head that slowly settled to a nice layer of scum throuout the session. Iíd call the beer color mahogany hadnít it been for the haziness of the beer. Iíd give it a 4 in appearance but the foam head pulls it up to a 5:er. The aroma is a lovely mix of crystal malts, maybe some melanoidin/aromatic malts as well, and some piney hops. The taste takes the aroma impression up one more level. The beer is sweet from the crystal malts, and I guess some roasted malts are souring it somewhat. The balance from the hoppy bitterness comes in the second wave, but they are thankfully not overwhelming, backing up the sweetness rather than taking over. The texture is so soft, itís delicious, and the beer reminds me of a belgian brune, albeit a bit lower in alcohol and with a less expressive yeast. Itís simply a wonderful beer of itsí type. Good work!

Draft - Light toasted malts and some caramel. Clear dark copper with a nice beige head. Sweet woody caramel, with some maple notes. Bitter but nice finish. Interesting, but nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle- Pours hazy dark orange with a one finger light tan head that slowly reduces leaving a blanket and some lace. The aroma is caramel malt, spicy hops. The taste is really creamy, smooth and really good actually, caramel candy, mild hops dry things out, salty finish. I am pleasantly surprised by this one, really enjoyed it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled at Repeal. I wish I would have had this earlier. Amber with copper. This is a nice Americanized version of an ESB. Those west coast hops are a nice addition to the Noble ones. Malts are just right and are pale and crystal. Nothing like caramel. This is what I want in an American ESB. Unfortunately, I had it after a dozen or so other beers which is not the way this beer should be enjoyed.

Great ESB! I can see why it won the Gold at the Great American Beer Festival in that category. Malty sweet characteristics and nose with a great hop finish. Very subtle in the bitterness. Good to see a brewery doing a good ESB!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
@ Whole Foods Market / Asheville NC --- Hazy dark ruby amber, long-lasting off-white head, stripes of lace. Taste is malt at the beginning, growing stronger and sweeter through the palate before slowly growing more bitter as it lingers in a very long finish. A satisfying, easy drinking brew. No-Li is doing a lot of things very well. Recommended.
