4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of pjdipes. 22oz bomber pours with a clear copper body supporting a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts with a dash of biscuit malts mixing with resiny pine hops and some citrus hard candy notes. The taste delivers rich deep chewy notes that are grapefruit and tangerine as well as resiny pine hop goodness with a decent enough base of sweet malts. The malts fade some into the finish leaving pleasing rich hoppiness lingering behind. Enjoyable IIPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour dark gold. Nose citrus hop up front, some dank hop, then late in aroma a very sweet powdery malt, almost like powdered donuts. Taste bitter up front, followed by dank and alcohol. Late palate vague sweetness. Astringnet bitter finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, shared with Grippitis and Parksy. Orange amber, off white head. Caramel malt and pithy citrus share the palate equally, ending with astringent bitterness. Nothing shines here, not to mention that the hops seem a bit lacking for a DIPA. Wouldn’t come back to this one, given that there are about a million West Coast DIPAs out there, this one is pretty forgettable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours hazed golden orange color with thin head that fades quickly and no lacing. Smell is orange, pine, floral, caramel malt. Taste is grapefruit skin, orange, lemon, heavy mango, floral, resinous, and sweet caramel malt. Balance is less focused on hops and more on caramel malts. Interesting DIPA.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz picked up tonight at Brewer’s Haven Boise on the way home from work... Pours a fairly clear dark golden/light orangish.... decent white head... great lacing.
Nose is pretty standard/average DIPA territory... piney essence with some grapefruit pith back.... cracker malt/dry toast maltiness carries the hops... balanced, but too heavy toward the malt to really grab my attention.
Flavor doesn’t have nearly big enough bitter bite to be in the DIPA category, especially in the PNW... instead almost an orange juice essence spiked with pithy zest is the hop big player... again, it seems too malty with a pretty substantial pale malt presence from front to back.
Body is right... carbonation is on the light side for the style.
Really, this is a pretty okay beer... no real flaws... but anybody calling their beer a DIPA nowadays has some benchmarks to live up to and this bottle just barely skates by.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City, NC. Dark orange pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma of grapefruit rind, freshly cut pine needles, and tangerine. Very nice bitter hop flavor of fresh pine, grapefruit, and grass. Not very balanced (in fact surprisingly bitter) and certainly on the piney side of the hop spectrum rather than the citrusy end. Nice beer and a pleasant surprise.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemon/lime zest, grapefruit, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, herbal, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and light-moderate malt balance; with great strength. Taste of lemon/lime zest, orange peel, grapefruit, floral, grass, pine resin, herbal, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine/floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/lime zest, orange peel, grapefruit, floral, grass, pine resin, herbal, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of bright citrus/pine hops with light-moderate malt presence; with a very crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and resinous sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice DIPA. All around good balance and complexity of resinous citrus/pine hops and light-moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. This label says 115 IBUs. Aroma is juicy grapefruit, a little catty, pine. Pours hazy orange with a one finger off-white head with decent retention; leaves some lace. Taste is extremely bitter with only a hint of sweetness. It’s so bitter, it’s hard to pick out any flavors. Body is medium to full, prickly mouthfeel. Not bad; definitely the bitterest beer I’ve had in a long time.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled: very recently (last 14 days).
Pours amber with a few soapy white bubbles atop. Brilliant clarity. Nose carries plenty of pine, wood, catty characteristics, some mint (surprising), a bit of resin. This is a far deviation from the usual context of Mark’s beers. Flavor is a bit sweet and caramel laden with a good bitterness and some tropical fruits as well (pineapple, grapefruit). Finish flavor is sweet and malty with some hints of orange juice and bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carb and an off dry finish, making is pretty refreshing. This beer is tasty, easy to drink for ABV and something I’d consider having again - but I’d rather have Crystal Bitter, Solar Winds or IPA from the same brewery first.
