COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If a tall pine falls in the Palouse and no one is there to hear it… Quietly brewed since 1993 and renamed in 2012 after another brewery gave us the silent treatment over a trademark issue with “Northern Lights,” this Spokane-style Pale lets its generous malt base and imposing use of Cluster and Cascade hops do the talking… No-Lie.

1 Pt. 6 Fl. Oz. Bottle from Dover Liquor Depot "Craft Beer Fest." Tasting. Poured hazy golden with a nice white head. Aroma of hops, malts and grain. Taste is piney and citrus hops, some malty sweetness with a nice bitter finish. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy darker amber color with a moderate white head. Nose is a little hoppy, but fairly light, though with a bit of floral notes. Taste is slightly bitter, but light and easy to drink. Not bad at all.

Tap at Jack Rose. Clear orange. Good foam and lace. Solid citrus hoppy IPA. Good palate, surprisingly not as astringent in palate as most tap beers at Jack Rose. Mild odd vinegar nose distracts, unfortunate. Otherwise this was the most drinkable beer on tap tonight.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 2/10/13

Aroma: The aroma of this one is fresh NW pine, with some grass and fruity notes as well
Appearance: Pours a hazed golden-orange with a full finger of off-white froth and medium lace
Flavor: The flavor is clean and fresh pine hops, with some light sweetness and light-medium bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is smooth, clean, fresh, and quite drinkable, with a soft carbonation
Overall Impression:  This is a really solid pine fronted Pale Ale. It is right on, with a very nice fresh Northwestern U.S. feel to it. This is an excellent APA.

22 dec 2012, tap at their brew pub. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is faint lemon and grassy hops. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Not very nice. Stanky bitter hops. Not that nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, over a clear dark gold (SRM 7) body.....nose is light resin, grapefruit peel, hints of bread....taste is pine, grapefruit peel, toffee/caramel sweetness, leading to a moderate bitter finish.....mouth feel medium, slightly astringent, carbonation adds tingle. This is a moderate take on the APA style. Neither the hops nor the malts are particularly complex, and the first sip reminded me of a Pils. It became more obvious that it was an APA on the second sip. This is not a bad beer, just ordinary for the style. BJCP 6/3/11/4/6
