This Imperial Red Ale beer is brewed with Magnum and Columbus hops then dry hopped with Simcoe and Columubs hops which gives it a nice citrus finish to the balanced malt characteristic.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2012 This is a damned fine beer. Aroma and initial taste are magnum and columbus hops. A nice assertive hop profile which is pleasant in a red. Darkish red with a nice lacing, lingering head. Taste is where the awesome really is, big hops up front but immediately goes smooth and finishes with a bakers chocolate note that disappears quickly and makes me want more. This is a really nice been and easily the star of the night. Edit: Bottle purchased at total wine. This is an entirely different beast form a bottle. Much less hop profile creating more of a scottish ale type feel. Far maltier and frankly disappointing considering I loved it so much on tap. Real number ought to be somewhere in the middle of tap 4.4 rating and bottle 3.6 rating. If you can find this on tap I’d suggest ordering it immediately

22 FL OZ ($5.99) Pours dark red. Tastes a bit like a stout. A thicker beer thats got a lot of flavor. Only down side is that the after taste is not very good and lasts too long. worth trying.

Bottle. Deep red-orange, hazy, with a low white head. Heavy malt aroma and flavour, lots of breadcrusts, some dried apricots, light marzipan. Low bitterness. It didn’t blow me away, but it was tasty enough.

A reddish brown beer totes and handsome but thin off white foam. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, and a balanced hop resin. Medium body. The sweetness is bold. Hop bitterness chases the swallow and a mild dryness finishes it off.

Reddish amber color, malty hoppy slightly cinnemon floral sweet aroma. Very smooth médium bodied. Slightly bitter citrusy Carmel hoppy taste with a hint of spices cinnemon. Very Good brew!

What a thick good-looking head. This is a nice beer that starts with a sharp bite. Smells okay. Mostly this is pretty good but actually seems a bit too strong at times.

Tap at the brewery before an Angels game. (Great location!) Pours a deep red/brown that is hazy with white head. Aroma is earthy and slightly citrus but not a lot of hops coming through. Taste is dirt, some ash notes, lemon (faint) and malt. Not anywhere near what I was expecting knowing the hop additions and dry hopping.

Amber pour, light head. Hoppy aroma, with some nuttiness and caramel. Nice hoppy flavor and light malt backbone.

Sampled at the AZ Strong Beer Fest. Vibrant deep red with a small eggshell head. Toffee, caramel, and roasted nuts accompanied by a moderate amount of citrus and evergreen laden hops. Medium mouthfeel.

6 Oct 2011, tap at the brewery. red/amber, faintly cloudy, steady bubbles, frothy head. big grassy hops, no malt or caramel. med body and fizzy. amber malt must just provide platform for really big, dry, grassy hops. odd for a red ale. no malt, nuttiness or caramel
