Nelson Sauvin, a hop varietal grown out of New Zealand, is the featured hop in this single-hop Double IPA. Our second release in our Double IPA series that showcases our favorite hop varieties, one by one, with each consecutive release. This hop is a mind bender with flavors of Sauvignon Blanc, gooseberries, truffle and allspice.

Keg whilst browsing Bottlecraft, 12/11/14. Hazed light golden with a decent off white covering to swirl. Nose is nicely skunked up hops, dank notes, grapefruit, earthy, citric peel, piss. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, pine, nice skunk, pissy, straw, citric peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid Skunky DIPA awash with Nelson, a pleasure to drink,

Bottle. Keep on lovin’ the Showers series! Pours hazy golden, medium creamy white head, dissipates fairly slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is super dank, cat piss, onion and garlic, some tropical notes. Flavor is light sweet and light plus bitter, dank, onions, herbal, dank leaves, some passionfruit. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel

Fresh Bomber to tulip. That is some danky shit for sure. Lots of tropical and citrus notes. Opaque pour with frothy white head. Not on par with Alpine Nelson but good for sure.

On draft. Citrus aroma. Lots of orange, but not particularly sweet. Any potential sweetness is balanced by dark chocolate malt flavor, which dominates at finish. Tremendous beer.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy gold color with a big sudsy white head that has excellent retention. The aroma is big and bold with oranges and orange blossoms that you can smell from across the room. The taste features melons, grapefruit, white grapes and bitter hazelnuts. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering bitter grapefruit. Overall: Very odd that the oranges I noted in the aroma were not present in the taste, call it a false foreshadowing. Regardless, this is one great IPA.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a one finger white head with decent lacing. Aroma is of juicy citrus, dank weed, catty hops, gooseberries, pine, tropical fruits, and musky white grapes. Taste is citrus, pine, tropical fruits, white grapes, gooseberrie, herbal and grassy hops, light bready malts, melon, and some truffles. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a moderately bitter, semi dry, medium-long finish. Overall, a tasty and complex DIPA that shows off one of my favorite hop varieties very nicely.

Poured from a bomber it has a golden yellow cold with a medium head. Aroma is pine, citrus and floral notes. Taste had a strong apricot and lemon flavor with some pine on the end. Nice finish.

Bottle thanks to Womencantsale. Pours a hazy, almost murkey orange color with medium to large white head, somewhat rocky. Slightly spicy nose, with some slight mango and papaya. Fruitiness from the hops comes through in the flavor with a bitter but not pithy finish, definitely drying. No signs of the 8.8% abv. While this is a solid, well made beer, I feel the hops are just underwhelming, and I don’t think it’s the recipe. I think I am just growing tired of Nelson hops.
