Tasty porter. Recalled liked the mild chocolate, coffee, and coconut blend. Dark brews are not my favorite but I enjoyed this one, very smooth. Would try again for sure.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz can from Glass Jug. Pours very dark ruby red with a massive pillowy tan head. Aroma is slightly sweet with faint chocolate and coconut underneath. Taste highlights the coconut flavors more. Slightly bitter on the back end. Body is about average. Just okay.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Mahogany color when held against the light. Foamy beige head out of the big can. Chocolaty nose with some burnt grain notes. Flavors of burnt toast, milk chocolate, some toffee sweetness, and a bit of a coffee bean bitterness in the finish. I would not be able to guess coconut without the suggestion on the lable. Tasty porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
16 ounce can. A nice coffee chocolate nose followed by some medium mouthfeel chocolate porter. Roast (which gives off a pretend coffee flavor). Nice.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark chestnut brown, almost black color with mahogany edges and a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting rig. Sporadic spotty lacing left behind.
Roasted malt aroma with lots of silky chooclate and toasted coconut. Slightly smokey with hits of dark and milk chocolate, lactic cream, toffee and coffee bean. The toasted coconut character really stands out nicely complimenting the subtle roast and chocolate notes.
Medium bodied with a strong dry roasted malt presence that never becomes overpowering or acrid. Deeply roasted with dark chocolate, coffee bean, burnt toast and coconut. Falls off a bit toward the finish and could use a bit more chocolate flavor/sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can:   Nearly black, deep cola hues, thin sandy head, little lacing.   Soft sweet roasted malt nose
with a definite coconut tinge.   Translates the same on the tongue, soft roasted malts, a little lactose
sweetness, with some coconut on the finish.   Solid Porter, low hop bitterness, with a coconut twist.
Moderate body and mouthfeel.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
From 16oz can in a large tulip glass. An extra from NC.
Aroma: Nice combination of roasted coffee, chocolate malts and hint of coconut. I actually enjoyed the mastery subtleness of the coconut here. I wouldn’t consider this a flavored porter at all.
Appearance: Dark brown with a medium-sized thick brown head. Wonderful lacing.
Taste: Nutty, rich, dry and bitter. Very malty porter.
Palate: Medium-full body.
Overall: This is the second beer I try by NoDa after Hop, Drop ’n Roll. Both are great. I usually don’t like big flavored porters as they tend to have an artificial flavors that I don’t like. I love coconut and I wish there’s more here, but I also enjoy subtle flavors and this one is masterfully made.

2015.07.19-NoDa Coco Loco-sampler flight at Charlotte Airport.
Not bad. Nice lacing, nice appearance and color. Just the strong hint of the chocolate and roast without dominating, a good balance for a porter. Some burnt presence to the roast. Pretty good, repeat worthy.
