Chocolate and Brown malts contribute a stunningly deep rich color with ruby highlights in this Robust Porter. The slight bitterness from American chocolate is balanced with the sweet roastiness of toasted organic coconut. A great beer before, during, or after a meal!

(Draught) clear dark brown, ruby hints, fine tan bubbles. Nose of cream, roasted nuts, toasted brown sugar, coconut, and cocoa. Taste has more bittering hops than are present in the aroma, but this is well balanced. Cream, nutty, bitter bakers chocolate, coconut, very well balanced porter, excellently done. Almost soda-like carbonation which works well in this beer.

On tap poured into a shaker. Candy coconut, chocolate, and a touch of coffee round out the aromas. It pours a deep, dark, opaque black-brown with a soft gelatin tan head. The head retains well and leaves lots of stick messy lacing. The taste is a medium high bitter and medium sweet. A good amount of creamy, fizzy carbonation combine with slick texture to go down smooth. The full body finishes with mocha and caramel and an espresso texture. Some of the coconut comes through in the aftertaste with dark chocolate and roasted grains. It does linger for awhile.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2014 Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a large fluffy tan-brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was chocolate, vanilla, wood and coconut. The flavor was bitter with toasty malts, chocolate, vanilla, wood, coconut, a hint of coffee and crisp floral hops. Long finish. Medium body.Quite nice.

Half pint at the Good Bottle Co. Pour black, with a small, tan head. The aroma is coffee, bitter chocolate, some light smokiness, and just a hint of coconut. Sweet flavor up front, but with an abrasive, roasted bitterness in the finish. Medium to heavy body, thick, and smooth. Overall, this has the aroma and mouthfeel to be a nice porter, but the flavor is just too unpleasant for me.

Tap at A Taste of Carolina, CLT. Poured an almost black brown color with coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Flavor was a bit nutty, malt forward, some toasty notes. Very flavorful, quite an enjoyable porter.

Have had this before but didnít rate it. Brown color, tan head, the usual. Some toasted coconut flavor but mostly just coffee and chocolate. I remember this as being richer, more unbalanced. Now it is more refined and just a downright good beer.

Draft: pours a dark black with a light brown head. Aromas are sweet chocolate, but the coconut really starts to come in with the taste, it just lingers around on the tounge. Awesome porter, not over the top with the coconut.

One of the best Porters out there. The coconut flavors are a perfect match with traditional Porter flavors, but NoDa balances them better than anyone else Iíve tried. It has the right mouthfeel, flavor, and body for a porter, and the taste is unique and well balanced.

On tap at NoDa. Pours a deep brown color with white head. Chocolate, roasty, malty aromas. Dark chocolate, coconut, roasty, light burnt flavors. Very solid porter.
