Chocolate and brown malts contribute a deep rich color with Ruby highlights in this robust Porter. Bitterness from American chocolate malt is balanced by the sweet roastiness of toasted organic coconut.

Can:   Nearly black, deep cola hues, thin sandy head, little lacing.   Soft sweet roasted malt nose with a definite coconut tinge.   Translates the same on the tongue, soft roasted malts, a little lactose sweetness, with some coconut on the finish.   Solid Porter, low hop bitterness, with a coconut twist.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.

From 16oz can in a large tulip glass. An extra from NC. Aroma: Nice combination of roasted coffee, chocolate malts and hint of coconut. I actually enjoyed the mastery subtleness of the coconut here. I wouldn’t consider this a flavored porter at all. Appearance: Dark brown with a medium-sized thick brown head. Wonderful lacing. Taste: Nutty, rich, dry and bitter. Very malty porter. Palate: Medium-full body. Overall: This is the second beer I try by NoDa after Hop, Drop ’n Roll. Both are great. I usually don’t like big flavored porters as they tend to have an artificial flavors that I don’t like. I love coconut and I wish there’s more here, but I also enjoy subtle flavors and this one is masterfully made.

Pours a dark brown color with tan colored head. Coconuts, roasted malts, and some chocolatey sweetness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied porter. Finishes with sweet toasted coconut.

2015.07.19-NoDa Coco Loco-sampler flight at Charlotte Airport. Not bad. Nice lacing, nice appearance and color. Just the strong hint of the chocolate and roast without dominating, a good balance for a porter. Some burnt presence to the roast. Pretty good, repeat worthy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some light lacing sliding into the beer. The smell started off with a sharp roasty to bitter coffee leaning towards a nice cocoa. As it warmed, a little bit of coconut rolls in to balance. The taste was mainly roasty and bitter and sweet through a nice combination between the coffee and cocoa. Once again, the coconut is subtle, still sweet. A quick roasty sweet aftertaste leads into a dry roasty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability to sipping quality about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Bitterness is there to impart a nice dryness rolling over my tongue. Overall, wow, what a wonderful American Porter. I didn’t mind that the coconut is milder than expected. Still, I would definitely have again.
