3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer poured black with a nice tan head. The aroma was chocolate, coconut. The flavor was a little on the bitter side, with malts, chocolate, vanilla, wood, coconut, a touch of coffee.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Serving: Draft at A Taste of Carolina in the Charlotte airport. It pours a deep brown color. Roasted nuts in the nose with a little maltiness. The taste has plenty of roasted malt, nuttiness, slight mineral notes, a touch of baker’s chocolate, and a bit of bitterness. Comes across as more like a dry Irish stout or robust porter than just a regular porter. Either way it’s pretty darn good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed this on draft, poured a solid dark ruby color with a khaki head, looks respectable. Aroma is strong on cocoa and coffee, taste is simply coffee and hops. "Coffee and hops" is what comes to mind throughout, with some vanilla accents. Finishes with a smooth light coffee and dark chocolate finish. Rich, medium-bodied. A well-executed porter.

Sampled at brewery. Black, dense beige head. Smells, as one might expect, like coffee, coconut, and dark chocolate. Does it taste like coffee, coconut, and dark chocolate, as well? Yes. Yes it does. Very tasty brew...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught) clear dark brown, ruby hints, fine tan bubbles. Nose of cream, roasted nuts, toasted brown sugar, coconut, and cocoa. Taste has more bittering hops than are present in the aroma, but this is well balanced. Cream, nutty, bitter bakers chocolate, coconut, very well balanced porter, excellently done. Almost soda-like carbonation which works well in this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap poured into a shaker. Candy coconut, chocolate, and a touch of coffee round out the aromas. It pours a deep, dark, opaque black-brown with a soft gelatin tan head. The head retains well and leaves lots of stick messy lacing. The taste is a medium high bitter and medium sweet. A good amount of creamy, fizzy carbonation combine with slick texture to go down smooth. The full body finishes with mocha and caramel and an espresso texture. Some of the coconut comes through in the aftertaste with dark chocolate and roasted grains. It does linger for awhile.
