Hop Cakes, a maple syrup infused double IPA. Only base grain used in the mash so ALL the color and sweetness is given from the maple syrup instead of specialty malts.

Tap at Beer Study. Soft pale blonde pour with one finger of off white head. Great nose, tons of citrus and fruity hops. Very and green/leafy hops. Tropical. Awesome flavor, good lord. Juicy and citrusy, pine resin, mango fruit, tropical. Beautiful and dank with some light onion notes on the finish. Light medium with a very hoppy finish.

16 oz can shared with ebone1988. The pour is a hazy brownish gold with a huge white head and some decently soapy lacing. The aroma is, well, different. There is a lot of malts and a decent maple sweetness. There is a bit of malty sweetness to compound it to a nearly offensive level. This should be something. There is a light fruitiness mixed in there that does not fit at all. The flavor is a strange thing. There is a strong maltiness and not any hops. There is a light maple and a weird sweetness. I'm not a fan of this at all. The mouth feel is decently thick and carries a light carbonation to it. The aftertaste is lightly fruity and just not good. This could be a lot better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can shared with koleminer20. Aroma is sweet, pine, tropical fruit, some maple and booze. Appearance is dark amber, off white head. Taste is...bitter? Some maple sweetness, almost unidentifiable to an IPA. Minimal hop presence, and, somehow, malty as hell without any real malt in the ingredients. Mouthfeel is medium body with crisp carbonation. Overall, this is strange and off-putting. I would classify this under a different category.

16oz can dated 2/9/15. Murky dark yellow. Smells like stale grassy hops, ditch weeds, skunk. Tastes like it’s a seriously old IPA, can’t believe it’s only 6 and a half weeks old. Some gross sweetness. No thanks.

16oz can shared by Dan P. Poured orange in color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, pine, and sweet citrus fruit. Taste is much the same. Caramel maltiness, citrus zest, lots of bitter pine, and a hint of sweet maple.

Dark amber pour. Small off white head. Little lacing. Caramel and butter aroma. Buttery caramel taste. Slightly dry finish. But it at too sweet.

Location: Draft at VBGB, 2/24/15

Aroma: Nice hop aroma, some pine, citrus, a little booze, and some caramel as well
Appearance: It pours a decent looking orange color with a small head and decent lace
Flavor: The taste is similar, good hop bitterness, lightly sweet, and a bit of boozy flavor
Palate: The body is medium, leaning full, with a decent mouthfeel, and a light heat
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty nice DIPA, but I honestly didn’t get any maple flavor at all. If not for the deScription, I wouldn’t have know it was even suppose to be there. I guess the feel is a hint syrupy, but otherwise...

From a can. Fruity and sweet nose. Very bitter, hoppy first sip followed by the sweetness of maple. Would have liked to taste more maple. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
