On tap at Vintner. Pours out a black color with a tan head on it. Smells pretty hoppy, plenty of pine and citrus notes with a little bit of roasted malt. Taste is hoppy and kind of thick - a little high on the carbonation for me. Some of the roasted qualities come though but mostly just a good bit of hop. Not a bad beer from these guys in Charlotte.

Draft: pours very dark with a tan head. Aromas are nice and malty with a bitter piney background. Flavor is like nice bitter chocolate. Lovely.

Wasn't sure what to expect! Poured like a stout but had a much lighter balance! Very tasteful and great black ale for a light brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ NoDa with jcnielsen. Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Pine and chocolate in the nose. Citrusy butter / diacetyl in the flavor. Not heavy but certainly annoying. High bitterness. Pine and herbal hops. Finishes very bitter. Second worst beer here.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a hazy dark red brown color with a thin tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts, nuts, herbal hops. The taste is mildy roasted malts, chocolate, bitter citrus and resin hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. The roast is not so intense compared to other Black IPAs, which is pretty nice.

Cask at the Black Friday Cask Festival, Triangle Brewing, Durham. Heavy cask pour, with a sort of unwavering sludgy look to the beer. Minimal carbonation but certainly seems to suggest that this brew is mostly "B." Soft leafy hops in the nose, along with more prominent malts. Sticky pine and molasses to taste. Okay, but not too memorable.

TURDFERGUSON (3928) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Tap at Tyler’s. muddy brown pour with smudgy snowflake cream lace. Nose is earthy, light citrus, roasted malt, and bakers chocolate. Flavor is a little on the bitter and astringent side as the bittering hops stand out more than the flavor ones. Well balanced, but boring.

Draft at the source. Extremely dark brown color, bright white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of light pine. Taste is bright and roasty pine.

The motor oil of beer. Not to say it wasn't tasty but downing just a pint was a challenge. Their Coco Loco seemed just as dark and equally full of flavor but not nearly as heavy. This one makes for a good post meal wind down or substitute this for a late night snack because it satisfies like a good old stout. Liquid dinner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
