puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Mar 23, 2009 Tap at the brewpub. Some big coffee/roast and smelly bathroom aroma, some chocolate. Bubblegum and chocolately flavor, milk, sweetish with mild grain character. Nice body, low carbonation. As with a lot of beers from these guys, the beer is pretty decent but some off flavors really put a damper in the experience. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Mar 18, 2009 Aroma is lightly cocoaish. Light Belgian spiciness with a kiss of clove. Slightly phenolic but the chocolate does come through pretty nicely. Soft full palate. Lightly chewy with a lingering sweetness. There is a kiss of licorice flavour as well on the finish. Pretty decent. blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA Mar 5, 2009 Draft at the Brewpub. Pours near black with a beige head. The aroma is on the light side, with roast and chocolate. Sweet and almost fruity yeast notes mute the roasted malts initially. Chocolate sweetness is present but restrained. Roasted malts come out in the finish. Pretty good. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 20, 2009 Tap @ the pub.Poured a very dark brown color with a beige head. Light chocolate aroma with a moderate amount of ash (I hate that). Light-medium body. chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway Feb 16, 2009 draft at nodding head, nose is much more smoky than I anticipated, I mean it is made with some high quality chocolate, but the first thing that hits you is smoke, than coffee, than somewhere there is chocolate. taste is very similiar to the nose, with more roasted notes. finish is chocolaty and dry. very rounded and fluffy mouthfeel.
