fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Feb 21, 2009 Tap at the brewpub. Aroma of smoke, sweet malt, coffee. Flavor has a hint of chocolate, more smoke, sweet malt. A touch sweet, but not disastrously so. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jan 26, 2009 dark brown with white head. flavor of some chocolate malt, not much depth. dry finish that leaves a somewhat acidic aftertaste. pretty standard brown. ordinary at best LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 10, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a pretty thick tan head. Aroma of sweet malt. Flavor of crystal malt, roasted malt. Sessionable, certainly, but this is TOO sweet (a common theme among Nodding Head beers it seems...).
6/4/6/3/14 (3.3/5) santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 6, 2009 Pretty good for a brown. Simple, clean, and easy to drink. I’m really impressed by how flawless Nodding Heads brews are, meaning no off-flavors in sight. I could drink this all night. T2Tool (352), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jan 4, 2009 This is a nice session brown ale. Had at the brewpub in a pint glass. Appearance of dark brown with no head (although this could have been because it took a while for the beer to arrive at the table). The aroma and the taste matched up on this one with sweet and nutty roasted malt. Some toffee flavors also. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 8, 2008 Porter aroma. Malty dark flavor. Medium body. A little astringent. Chocolatey finish. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 29, 2008 (10/19/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Brown color with a beige head. Aroma of slightly smoked malt, some caramel, some nuts and bready notes. Sweetish flavor with malt, nuts, a bit of smokiness and some toasted bread notes. Medium-bodied. Nice. Has more character than most Brown Ales. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 19, 2008 Deep brown pour, nose is quite roasty. Mouth was chocolaty and very enjoyable. As a self exclaimed hated of brown ales, this was quite a treat!
