Smooth flavor of Chocolate, caramel, and a hint of smoke that was easy to drink. SETANTA (581), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA

Clear, dark brew, no head, no lacing - looks kind of like a flat cola. Mild and unimpressive - another example of why I should stay away from brown ales. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Draft - part of sampler at brewery. Pours a med-to-dark brown color with a nice creamy, off=white head. Aroma is roasted malts and a hint of semi-dark chocolate. Flavor is mostly the roasted malts, with a slight balancing with some mild hops and a little sweetness from the chocolate notes. Medium bodied. Rather drinkable. booyaatribe (453), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 12, 2001 Black, almost opaque body beneath a fluffy white head, HEAVY lacing, imparting a soft roasty aroma. Starts brilliantly, offering a definitive and exceptional roasted coffee flavor supported by mild chocolate malt, toasted barley, and controlled sweetness, giving this qualities more akin to a dry stout than scotch ale. Unfortunately, and quite inexplicably, this beer loses its charm in a hurry, degrading to a watery, muddled, bland mess by the bottom of the glass. I’ve never tried a beer that started off so promising and ended so disappointingly. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA
