This beer has changed ABV erratically during the years of production. Started at 7.5%, subsequently 6%, it stands actually (2009) at 9%. Only the brewery knows whether it will stay at this level, since they never bothered to signal differences, and always considered it to be the same beer...

From bottle. Reddish brown. Very sweet, slightly too sweet for my very sweettoothed taste, with hardly any bitterness. That the alcohol content is as high as 9 % is hardly noticeable. Fruity, strawberry candy. Not as much spice and herbs as one could hope from a christmas beer. But very pleasant, in its sweet way.

Small shared bottle. Creamy, light brown head on a clear red body. Fruity, spicy, earthy nose. Spicy, light caramel, chlorine and light earthy notes on light acidic and sweet flavors. Medium to full body. Light syrupy. Medium carbonation. Sticky.

Clear, medium to dark brown body with a red tint, light brown head and good lacing. Very malty and yeasty aroma. Dark fruits, honey, alcohol, red wine and perfume. Nice, but a bit faint. Medium to heavy sweet taste with very little bitterness. Pleasant although a bit simple flavour profile: yeast, caramel, perfume, dark fruits and alcohol. Sweet, vinous and strong, but still very drinkable.

Pours a darkish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice and orange

Draught at Churchkey. Dark, cloudy walnut pour. Dark fruit but in a disappointing light manifestation, along with some bizarre grainy notes and bits of caramel and molasses. Ok, but eh.

0.33l bottle. This is a clouded deep deep ruby red beer with a big and light fluffy quite off-white head that’s lacing down the glass. The aroma is eminently Belgian yeast. Also; it’s sweet with tons of candy, caramel and a nice alcoholboozy tone. It has a lively to aggressive carbonation level and a mild oily mouthfeel. The flavors are also packed with lots of candy sweetness, Belgian yeast and it ends with a warming Belgian ale finish - and aftertaste. Yeah, this suited me just fine for the mood I’m in right now, but perhaps it’s a bit rough around the edges if this is beer #1 in the evening.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, ruby red colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Toasty malty and berry fruity aroma, also slightly vinous with a tinge of cellar. Moderately sweet flavour, surprisingly medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly toasted malty and nutty taste with slightly vinous berry fruits; mildly sweet and sour fruity finish with notes of dark malts and shy traces of alcohol. Fine and rounded Ale. 09.X.11
