Commercial Description:
Unpasteurized, Unfiltered, Bottle-Refermented Belgian Ale. The Brasserie Des Légendes is housed in a medieval castle in the town of Irchonwelz, in the French-speaking south of Belgium. Poured from the bottle into a trappist glass to drink. The beer had a cloudy deep brown-amber color with a big, creamy, tan head that had great retention and cling. It had a pleasant aroma with of dense fruits, including raisins and prunes. There was also a malty component, some spices, and brown sugar. Its flavor was sweet and fruity with a malty, raisin taste and was quite pleasant, with a very mild touch of bitterness. The beer had a lighter, thinner body, was just a touch watery, and had ample carbonation and life. Overall I really enjoyed this beer and would be happy to have it again.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with an orange tint and a bubbly off-white head. Aroma has notes of caramel, grain, alcohol and some yeast notes. A strong note of alcohol with undertones of hay, and grain. Not particularly well balanced.

bottle pours hazy amber, fizzy white head. Impressive aroma, lots of camomile and hints of Belgian yeast (champagne?), mild note of malt. flavor, light malty profile, followed by a refreshing herbal/camomile palate that make this beer something very unique. Tea like finish, sweet notes of dark/brown sugar. Very reminiscent of FL’s St-Somewhere Lectio Divina. good seasonal that stays away from the usual all-spice notes.

Bottle. A brown and orange beer with a large off white head. Strong aroma when the beer is opened of hay and yeast but more complex nose of ginger and grapfruit on the pour. Flavor starts interesting... a honeyed sweetness and a barleywine like flavor but it is over pretty quick, instead it gives way to a weird pine sol, battery acid taste that sticks in the corners of your mouth.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a large, frothy off-white head. Lacing is strong. Aromas of ginger, hay, and a bit of port. Palate is medium body, clean texture with a slick finish, fizzy carbonation, and a moderate finish. Tastes of banana, raisin, and ginger. Pretty good Christmas beer.

A pretty decent Christmas beer. The color is brown and hazy, with small floating sediment in there as well. The aroma has subtle hints of grains and barley. The taste is somewhat sweet, but refreshing.

Hazy copper orange color/ tan head. Sourdough bread, peppercorn clove sweet n’ dry aromas. Frothy light mouthfeel. Decent, if thin flavors of citrus fruit, sweet apple, earthy yeast.

Bottle courtesy of Greg Engert at Churchkey. Chestnut/amber color with a large white head, long-lasting, with great lacing. Subtle aroma of spice, maybe cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor begins with light mixed winter spice, then grass, then malt, then pumpernickel bread, and finishes with a faint bitter edge. Nicely complex. Great body. My second favorite Christmas beer of the 2009 season so far, very nice indeed.

Not bad. Nothing too dramatic. Poured with a nice large off white to light tan head that lasts a a while and great lace. Color is a slightly hazy copper. Aroma is a little malty and caramel, a hint of fruit and yeast. Flavor is mild - mostly caramel and malt with a hint of perfume. Body is nice and so is carbonation . Definite alcohol in the finish. Decent beer in a general sort of way.
