COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Dark Brown with a light-brown head. A lot of taste from licorice, leaves, coffee, bread, with a long aftertaste. A very good barley wine, happy that they started to sell this one.

Enjoyed with Kaetchen and Correl at Beer Rvolution. So malty and smooth. Deep forest fruit with just a hint of warmth. Slight sour finish. Beautiful drink.

14,14,13,14,13,14 13,80 11/9/

Poured pitch black without much head. Very malty and sweet. The hop profile was very muted. Not sure how this would be a Double IPA.

Bottle from Alko. Black color, beige head. Complex taste with raisins, coffee, liquorice, burnt finish. Excellent barley wine.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque very deep chestnut, verging on black, with a medium light beige head, which lasts quite well and leaves good lacing. The dominant aroma is toffee and date pudding, with some citrus hops freshness and a touch of caramel to back it up. A treacley dark sweet flavour introduces it, leading into some muted pine and spice hops. A smooth and quite sweet body has some rum and port flavours, which give way to a more savoury finish and a lingering alcoholic warmth. This is quite a pleasant beer - sweet and warming, it would be excellent on a chilly night.

Poured a cola brown with a red tint and khaki head. Smell is dates, caramel, dark fruit, candi sugar, and hops. Taste is sweet yet balanced upfront, dates and brown sugar in the middle, with a light bitter finish. Nice creamy texture and medium carbonation. More on the American end of the barley wine spectrum, yet still sweet. Nice and complex.

Dark brew with a lively head that quickly fades, but retains a refreshing sparkle in the mouth. Aroma is dark fruits withe caramel and a hint of citrus. Taste is almost sour, with a sugary sweet bitterness which, for me, tastes strangely of lemon sherbet. I think the IIPA is more suited to this rather than the Barley Wine label given the bitterness, although it is very sweet like a barley wine.

No vabbè... Magnificienza.
