Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

Pour from a 25oz is beautiful mahogany reddish brown; dark rich and inviting. Head is dense and creamy leaving prodigious lacing as it settles. Nose has coffee and sour overtones overall the impression is lightly fruity with roasted malt. Surprisingly light felling. Smooth on the tongue, goes down well. Taste is rich, sweet smoked toffee and pine. Delightful!

500ml bottle, batch 348, dark amber color, with a frothy beige head, leaving some belgian laces, with a spicy floral hop nose, some toasty, caramel malt notes, with a hint of gingerbread spiciness, with a nice hopped, leafy, coniferous accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet toasted malt, spicy, medicinal herbal hop character, with a good leadfy, coniferous, minty accent, with some star anise, licorice, ginger spiciness, with a hint of chocolate, leading towards a malty, hop piney, coniferous bitterness finish.

Very dark amber with tan fluffy head that lingers. Vanilla, roasted banana, some cognac. High impaact on the first sip that settles somewhat. Huge bitter - definately a Double IPA a la DFH 90Minute. The hige hop bitter covers some rather interesting vanilla citrus. Malty lingering finish. All satisfying.

500 ml bottle (Batch 326). Deep dark reddish brown colour, creamy light brown head. Sweet, a little roasted malty aroma, with dark fruits and aromatic hops. Caramel malts and dark fruits, some nuts and chocolate in the flavour. The finish is warm, long and strongly bitter. Delicious.

if this is supposed to be an IIPA, the color is extremely dark for the style and pretty radical for a barley wine. VERY malty nose, it even smells syrupy. some booze and some wood in the nose and flavor. comes across as an extremely potent brew, yet still enjoyable.

3rd Annual Richmond Industry Gathering. Mostly clear amber/orange brown with small white head. Carmelized malt sugar and dark fruits with some peach and pear like flavors. Finish is slightly sweet with touch of residual bitterness.

Pours a dark cloudy amber-black with a persistent thin tan head with some lacing. Aroma is lovely - pungent, sweet brown sugar and raisins. Flavour is slow to gather - about half a second before the ash hits, plenty of bitterness, acidic malt astringency, great lingering finish. Creamy with good carbonation. Nice, but not sweet enough for my taste.

The label calls it a barleywine so who am I to argue. Wonderful aroma and a beautiful brown pour with a huge light tan head. Flavor of wine is apparent in the first sip but is overwhelmed by the hops. Nicely balanced with a great after taste.
