Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

A unique & well-made beer. Aroma of bitter hops, bubble gum & chocolate. Darkest brown with perfect dark tan head that last a good while. clean & aromatic in the mouth. flavors of sour cherry, caramel, a bass bitterness bridging the citrus & reiny, strong alochol flavor, a little sourness. very bitter finish with a little sticky lips.

Bottle sampled with Mad_Indian. Pours brown with amber edges and a large tan head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, black malt, and piney hops. The flavor is sweet upfront, caramel, fruit, and a piney bitter finish. Good body, exceptional brew.

500 ml bottle purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington. Pour is murky brown with some ruby highlights. The head is tan and quite big and fluffy (3 inches). Nice settling. Some very nice lacing is left behind on the glass. Aroma of sweet ripe fruit malt and pine hoppiness. There is also a dusty earthiness present. Taste is nice, the sweetness is more rounded and the pine hoppiness is quite bright with a nice resin freshness to it. The resin turns to a bit of burnt wood in the finish as it warms. The heat is fairly well masked. This reminds me a lot of a fresh "West Coast" Barley Wine or even Stone’s 11th Anniversary. I realize Nøgne made a Double IPA here, but the taste reminds me of that. Nice medium full body. Overall, a nice beer.

Poured from the bottle and in the glass a dark brown shade with a thick tan head. Aromas of bitter hops and some smokiness. Very smooth and silken on your palate for sure. Good solid hops and dark maltiness. Long lasting flavors and hoppiness.Very cool lacing in the glass to boot. Another good brew from the boys in Norway.

Pours to a dark black cola colored body with a foamy tan head. The aroma is super hoppy with lots of grapefruit and some herbal things going on. Some sugar. The flavor is bitter, grassy, grapefruit, and herbal hops. Chocolate malt on the finish. Some heavy sweet caramel malt up front. Resiny bitterness and moderately sweet mouthfeel.

Nice dark reddish chestnut color with a short off-white head that quickly disappears. Strong hop aroma. Lots of caramel and roasted malts. A sugary sweetness that goes along with the bitterness. Very warming, what i think an Imperial IPA should be.

.5L bottle from my son Enniskillen; Nose is sweet, with prunes, chocolate, and a light flowery hop note; more barleywineish than DIPA; cloudy dark brown with a big tan head; flavor has big hop bitterness, almost covering some dark fruit and chocolate notes and the fairly strong alcohol presence; finsih is bitter and alcoholy.

,5L bottle This pours a very dark brown with a minimal head. Noting that it’s a double IPA (w/ an incorrect American labeling of it as a barleywine) it looks more like a barleywine. Bitter, dry tasty. Nicely done
