thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 22, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of all foam finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated light brown colored body. The nice aroma was barley wine like with typical malt hop notes. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish mild vinous hop aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of hops mildly vinous and burnt malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich brown with a thin white head. Aroma is dark fruit and sweet malts. Notes of floral hops, citrus, fall spices, and caramel come out. On the palate, it is light, a little dry, and refreshing. The flavor brings the hop pressence forward along with a bit of the dark fruit. It finishes bitter and dry. It was very good. Dervock (178), Emu plains, Australia Sep 20, 2009 Bottle - Pours a deep brown with a tight vanilla head. Sweet citrus aroma, with a hint of spices. The strong citrus aroma is replaced by a short citrus taste up front, followed by a creamy malt flavour and a dry bitter finish. Really nice mouthfeel and very smooth Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 15, 2009 500ml bottle at many locations and many times.I love this beer as it was my first foray into the world of craft-beer.It is certainly a hoppy brew, lot’s of citrus and grapefruit which mellows after time .It has a big malty backbone which contributes to making this more of American barley wine when it ages. That is part of what makes this such an interesting brew. planky84 (97), , Greater London, England Sep 12, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Pours a deep, dark brown. Good lasting beige head, leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aromas of dates, chocolate malt, dark fruits. Flavours of malts, licorice, chocolate. Has a sharp alcohol kick akin to a decent single malt! Finishes bitter and hoppy. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2009 As an imperial IPA, I think think aside from the 10% ABV, this beer misses the mark. The company bills itself as having strong American influence. This beer has a muted hops taste with a well balanced finish.....very un-American. I thought American IPAs were in your face hops, Dry/bitter finish. It is a good beer standing alone, but not when its compared to other double IPA’s. Thought this does remind me of Stoudt’s Double IPA craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA Sep 7, 2009 Dark brown pour, with a frothy ivory head, 1-2 fingers. Aroma holds buttered toast, orange and grapefruit hops, resin, caramel, and a bit of dark fruit. The American hops seem to blur the line between double IPAs and a US barleywine. Flavor holds lots of brown sugar, molasses, and caramel, but the citrus and resin hops are still quite evident. An interesting beer and not something that I would typically expect from a European brewery like Nogne. Clearly very well crafted, and I dig it overall. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Sep 7, 2009 Dark brown pour with an excellent one finger tan head. Aroma is highly dark sugar oriented with caramel, toffee, and a biscuity dough yeast character. Citrus character comes through as well, finishing with resin. Flavor is very sweet- caramel and molasses are massive, roast is quite noticeable, and sticky resin is highly prevalent. Palate is thick rich and silky with the slightest bubbly nature.
