wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Nov 22, 2007 Pours black without much head but a ring of bubbles around the edge leaves slight lacing on the glass. The aroma is fruity with a fresh hoppy blast up front. The flavor is caramel sweet at first, then makes way for the bitter hop flavors that hit the back of the tongue and linger through the aftertaste. This is easily one of my favorite IPAs. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 22, 2007 Bottle from Capones, sampled with Stegosaurus. Dark brown pour with tan head and good lacing.Caramel\black malt and dark fruit aromas. Sweet malty taste up front with a bitter dry finish. Good blend, good brew. NOGNE0 impresses me every time !! The cerimonial humping of the bottle was done. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Nov 22, 2007 Updated: Aug 23, 2009A dark brown pour that is oddly dark with a tan head and lace. A nose of hard dry fruit. A flavor of roasted malt with a nice malt/hoppy bitter. Solid palate carbonation is smooth and creamy. A very good offering. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 22, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep brown, almost black. Tense tan head with a few frothy bubbles in the mix. Nose is piney hop, light chocolate, grape pop, rich malt. Odd but good. Flavor is caramelized malt, rich fruits are swallowed by a strong bitterness. Richness returns but is tempered by crisp bitterness. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle says "Barleywine Style Ale". Dark brown with monster whipped creamy non- dissipating head. Strong orange aroma. Flavor is strong, strong hops, dark chocolate, bitter. Some pepper and spices, orange peel, light citrus and vegetable compost. Bitter bite dominates. Some alcohol and black licorice. Thick and syrupy, full and rich. Heavy. Interesting beer. Almost too rich, concentrated, and out of whack but worth a try. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Nov 18, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a huge, foamy beige head. Copious amounts of lacing.
Smell: The aroma is a blending of freshly-peeled citrus fruits and burnt chocolate cookies.
Taste: Double Fudge cookies with a reasonable sweetness that blends into an oven-roasted fruitiness and the taste of creosote-soaked citrus hops. A mild smokiness appears midway, as does the taste of hearty nine-grain bread. Finishes dry and bitter with an extra helping of roast.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: An interesting, unique hrbid beer for sure with plenty to offer and begs (if not requires) to be sipped. tenghave (402), Taastrup, Denmark Nov 16, 2007 brun øl med bundfad.
Duften er grape og chokolade.
Samgen er meget humlet og tung.
