cab (861), Denmark Aug 4, 2007 Bottel.50cl. A very dark Ipa, with a fine and deep aroma, of malts very dark one´s. The taste is very american micro. I notis some sulphur, from low yeast pitch rate or gypsum. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Aug 4, 2007 Bottle from trade with Boutip. Thanks Phil! Pours a reddish brown color with a small off white head. Aroma of hops, caramel and roasted malt. Taste is slightly sweet and malty . Has a slight citrus flavor as you dig deeper with a nice hop bite in the finish. Very nice! yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 4, 2007 50 cL bottle (batch 278, also had the original batch 100 back in 2005). Pours dark brown with an off-white lacing head. Sweet malty, slight fruity aroma. Thick chocolate and hoppy fruity flavoured. Nice dark malty and bitter finish. Very nice. EHSRanders (1121), Randers C, Denmark Jul 28, 2007 Updated: Dec 28, 2008Bottle. Hazy brown colour with large creamy off-white mostly diminishing head. Hoppy aroma with caramel. Sweet bitter flavor with a lot of caramel. Lots of alcohol. Very bitter finish. oily palate. MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 28, 2007 Updated: Nov 2, 2009Bottle, 10.0%. The aroma has a nice and refreshing tea-like character with a little brown sugar to it. Very dark and beautiful chestnut colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is dominated by the same hoppiness as the aroma, but a bit more rough in combination with the alcohol. The aftertaste has some liquorice and of course alcohol, semi-warming. Does not seem too bitter in combination with the maltiness, but after a while the late bitterness gets rather rough and a little yeastiness kicks in. 8 4 7 3 16
Rerate after a bit over 2 years, bottle from the same batch. The flavour is much more rounded. Still very powerful hoppiness and alcohol flavour, but the bitterness has mellowed out quite a bit. A lot more harmonious than the younger beer. 8 4 8 3 17 petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Jul 28, 2007 This beer is about as close as a IIPA gets to an imperial brown ale. Or is the other way around...?
Anyway, this is a fabolous beer: Rich and intense floral aroma with nice notes of caramel and chocolate.
It’s a bit murky and quite dark but the head is thick and sticks to the beard.
The flavour is hoppy and solid. Chocolate and vague coffee-notes make their apperance and the whole thing finishes bitter and medium dry.
Very nice. The best thing about it might be, that it’s on the shelve in my local supermarket! Defreni (993), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 27, 2007 Flaske. En virkelig lækker IPA, med en god balance imellem humlen og malten. Mørk farve og en diskret duft af citrus. Meget positivt overrasket. thewolf (5621), Kolding, Denmark Jul 22, 2007 Bottle, bought at Vinens Verden Slotsgade. Batch 189. The liquid in my tulip glass looks ruby-like dark mahogany. Almost black when viewed against any background, but dark red against the light. A firm, off white creamy head rests nicely on the top with a good degree of lacing in the glass. Aroma has loads of hops, but there is a dose of burnt caramel as well as a feeling of wet rye bread behind it. Low carbonation, and a very oily feel - the beer expands nicely in my mouth and lingers on most tastebuds. Dark roasted malts begin the experience, then a good dose of flowers and hops. The initial roastedness is not excactly sweet, but there are some sweetness hidden behind the hops. Finish is warming, vinious and very bitter. This is no american impy IPA with 80 % aroma and 20 % flavour - this is the other way around. A mixture of impy stout and impy IPA, there are flavours to last a day. Very bitter and dry in the far finish with a long aftertaste. But after warming up a little, it ends up a touch more ordinary.
