Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

complex and fruity. Velvety on the palate. The Lafite Rothschild of a beer. Masterly handicrafted. Lovely jobbely! Norway’s absolutely best beer,

The bottle says Barley Wine and RB says DIPA. Whatever it is, it’s got a warm spot in my heart. 100 pours dark brown with a huge, everlasting head that just won’t quit. It’s sticky and stubborn leaving a fluffy island and snail tracks along the walls of my goblet. Aromas of leathered malts. Full nectar with ample residual effers that are soft to the touch. My first impression is of surpirse at the dark, almost black color and very interested. This beer is very generous. It has a mild roast, a moderate hop component, and a moderate sweetness factor. All this is balanced with a plethora of flavanoids. Bitter cocoa, roasted espresso, leather, molasses, vanilla cream. The finish is long like a Saturn winter with the warmth of the Sun. A nice citrus rind bittering component helps as the curtain closes. Overall: I was completely surprised by this brew. It says Barley Wine on the bottle and I wasn’t really in the mood so I kept saving it. I finally gave in and to my amazement I have discovered a new classic gem. 100 drinks well cold, mid warmth, and room temp. There is no reason why this brew isn’t scoring 100. This brew is underrated. I highly recommend 100 with flying colors.

Glass: tulip Purchased at: Canal’s Discount Liquors, Burlington, NJ (Thanks, Mike) Price: $7.59 Size: 16.9 fl oz ABV: 10% IBU: 80 Estimated Calories:270 C RateBeer Rating: 98 Aural: quick, painless opening, active, static carbonation, pour is smooth and quiet. Aroma 10 out of 10 Intensity: strong Balance: sweet and sharp Impression: nice Malt Flavor: grain sweet toast nut caramel Hops Flavor: pine earth floral herbal resin citrus Other: pine, grapefruit, wheat Notes: Aroma is delicious and enticing. Appearance 5 out of 5 Color: brown Clarity: quite dark, nearly opaque. Head Retention: persistent Notes: A beautiful angry red brown body topped by a great deep tan head. Flavor 10 out of 10 Intensity: strong Balance: sweet and quite bitter Impression: amazing Malt Flavor: grain bread sweet toast nut caramel toffee roast Hops Flavor: earth herbal resin citrus Other: pine, grapefruit, Notes: The flavor is absolutely amazing. Palate 5 out of 5 Mouthfeel Sensation: creamy drying warming Body: full Carbonation: medium Finish Length: long Intensity: strong Balance: bitter Notes: whole mouth is affected - sweet, salty, a bit sour, very bitter, and amazingly, in this case, umami. General Impression: 20 out of 20 Craftmanship: boring ↔ excellent Freshness: stale ↔ fresh Personal Taste: disliked ↔ loved Notes: The scent was of an active factory making furniture, sawdust and sweat, and smoke. The visuals were of a deep midnight under a new moon. The taste was of oak and walnut planks being sawn and tasted in the smoky air of an overheated blade. The palate is of a visitor who won’t leave, whether you wish her there or not, but luckily, you enjoy her company. It was quiet in opening and pouring like an evening springtime rain. Thick head, dark-brownish colour. Lots of hops, some sweetness but quite dry overall. Absolutely fantastic double ipa, and one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted!

0.5 L. Two-finger head that lasts atop this nearly opaque, nearly chocolate brew. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, earthy orange. Flavor is the same plus lots more: resin, coffee, toasted oak, char, peppery green herb, slight smoke. Heavy body is smooth, dryish and tingly. Tastes similar to Bigfoot. BW, or DIPA? Who cares? This is damn good!

courtesy of fiulijn - cloudy dark brown-bordeaux colour, almost no foam; aroma of prune and cream, very hoppy; nits and chocolate maltiness; strong malt body; oily, deeply bitter with a very long malty nutty, chocolaty finish - what a fantastic beer!

Dark amber in color with a huge foamy head that lasts the entire life of the beer. Sweet smell. Sweet, chocolaty, roasty, somewhat smokey and slightly sour taste. Very complex beer. Sliky, creamy texture. Longlasting warm finish. I really liked this beer but not as much as Nogne Porter or Imperial Stout.
