Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

A- Pours a dark brownish hue with a thin, earthy head. S- Very malty, caramel, dark fruit. T- Lots of dark fruit, caramel, and toffee notes without being sweet in the slightest. Dominant hop character from begining to end with a nice and bitter finish. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This is a very tasty beer. Excellent to sip on on a cold night.

Wow this was a treat. Poured into a snifter a murky light/medium darkness brown with a thick cream head. Looks kind of odd... serious floaties in a poo brown color beer was a tad off putting. But luckily the aroma of caramel, deep malts, chocolate malt, and a little hop comes though to save the day. The taste is superb. All of those smells come through with a powerful but pleasant citrus hop kick on the back. Great brew. I wish I had checked more than one in my suitcase from PA

Pours hazy dark amber color with off white head. Aromas of licorice and spices with some hops. Flavors of spices and wheat with some hop bitterness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. This doesn’t taste like a barley wine or IIPA to me. It’s more like a spiced winter beer.

A clear dark brown colored beer, with a big thick foamy dark beige head. The aroma of chocoalte malts, dark fruits a little sweet with in the back hop. The taste is bitter of oure chocolate with dark fruits some sweets and in the back are hop bitters. The aftertaste is dry and bitter.

500ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Been saving this one for rating #100, how appropriate. Pours brown with a two finger light tan head that holds together very nicely and leaves lots of lacing. Big time aroma of resin hops up front, some citrus, but also plenty of sweet malts, caramel, dark fruits, some brown sugar, vanilla, a touch of chocolate. Quite complex on the nose. Flavor starts with sweet caramel malts, brown sugar, vanilla, some chocolate, then follows with some bitter resinous hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is very full and creamy, medium carbonation. Is this a DIPA or a barleywine? I think it falls somewhere in between the two. An immensely enjoyable and unique brew.

Bottle 16.9oz. - Poured reddish brown color with two finger beige head that lasted awhile. Aroma - sweet caramel, prunes, cough drops and woody. Flavor - Awesome sweet dark fruits in perfect combination of mildly punngent resin hops!! Tastes more like a BW like the bottle says unlike rate beer saying that its a DIPA. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy smooth texture!! Soft carbonation with long lasting tastey finish! Overall - Best BW I’ve had to date. So smooth and creamy with perfect balance of sweet and bitter, plus finish is so damn good!! Go and try this beer if you’re a fan of BW’s

Pours very dark brown with quite thick brownish head. Aroma has some raisins and citrus with some roasted malts. Flavor has maybe less citrus but otherwise it resembles the aroma quite a lot. Very bitter finish. Clearly a quality beer but not quite my cup of tea.
