Sample at a Systembolaget tasting. Fruits and berries on the nose. Similar tate, fairly sweet but not overpowering. Feels very well made and has some very nice aromas. Nice to lean back and sip at.

Smells great, pours thick, tastes amazing for such a strong beer. I’d make love to it if I could.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a seriously murky brown body, a small dense tan ring holds.
Rich aroma; raisins and figs, cocoa, vinous dark fruits, yeasty bread, vegemite, overly ripe banana, charred oak, dark brown sugar.
Thick, really thick! Sticky almost syrupy texture bolstered by a low creamy carbonation and oily booze.
Decidedly oaky, rich, sweet, opulent on the body. Lots of yeast influence; really ripe stone fruit, cocoa, dark brown sugar. Some alcohol sweetness on a lingering finish, not as intense as the abv might suggest.
Full on, somewhat unbalanced but complex. A sipper thats for sure.

I really wanted to love this. I've enjoyed a lot of Bridge Road's beers but this one really didn't do it for me. Abt/quad is my favourite style, but this really isn't in the same league as its Belgian (or some of its American) cousins. Far too much Vegemite/marmite/promite yeastiness and not enough sweetness, fruitiness & spiciness. Really lacking balance. I'm keen to try the Aurora Australis to compare & see if the one brewed in Australia was better.

On tap at Armakeggon at Archive. Big and dangerous, luckily they only served sample sized glasses. All round good beer.

Draft. Pours opaque deep brown with long lasting light tab head. Big rich aromas of pitted fruits, boozy toffee, rum, chocolate, burnt toffee, figs, prunes, anise. Full rich boozy body, warming malt character, nice yeast profile finishing complex malty and lightly chalky on the finish, not so lingering

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a medium sized beige head. Fine, not very strong but really pleasant aroma of malt, dry fruit, oak, caramel and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, dry fruit, pleasant bitterness, mild oak, hint of peat with warming alcohol. Fine body with a rather long aftertaste with more obvious but mild bitterness together with oak. A fine and balanced beer.

Couldn’t get this at the Bridge Road Brewery but Provenance Restaurant had one. At $20 it was well worth it and probably one of the most unique beers in he world today. I sipped it with Gorgonzola for desert and loved it. What a privilege!
