3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep copper color, with a medium off white head. Really unique nose, lots going on. Earth, sweet malts, hops, and honey are all evident. The flavor was pretty cool on the taste buds as well. Got a lot of herbal and earthy notes as in most traditional ales, with some fruity sweetness and tart honey notes. Very interetsing and tasty ale, a little underrated I think.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida. Orange amber in colour with a thin lasting off-white head, some light lacing. The aroma has lots of berries, wood, twigs, some grass, spice and honey. The flavour is of honey sweetness, lots of juniper berries, some spice and pepper. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet with lots of honey and berries. I’m liking the Sahti’s that I have been trying. Hopefully more will come out. This one is quite nice.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This one wanted to get out as soon as I opened the bottle. Light beige bubbles slowly rose up from the bottle as I then tried to quickly move the bottle to the glass to catch the tasty foam. After it was poured I observed a very cloudy orange/brown colored body full of yeast sediment. In the body tiny champagne like bubbles can be seen streaming up the sides of the glass. The rushed pour produced an average, two finger tall beige head. It was made up of lightly packed foam which settled quickly and left only a very thin film on top. The aroma is full of sweet honey notes, pine needles, bready, malts and yeast as well as some mild fruity apple skin like notes. Its flavor has a sweet honey mead like character with loads of sweet bready yeast and fruity estery notes as well. I picked up fruity notes of apple and pear mixed with notes of pine needles and a very slight touch of citrus/pine hop bitterness. The finish is still quite sweet but there is some botanical/herbal bitterness with some very mild hop bitterness for balance. Underneath all of this is a very well hidden mellow alcohol presence. On the palate it has a firm smooth texture with soft yet active carbonation.

Thanks Henrik, first Sahti. Amber coloured and unclear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Heavy sweet and odd spicy/herbal aroma. More harmonic flavor, heavy sweet, honey-sweet, and more herbs. Crisp bitter finish, juniper? Creamy, syrupy texture and warming alcohol.
