COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A special twist on the Finnish style Sahti, brewed at Nøgne Ø in cooperation between Dugges Brewery, Sweden, and Nøgne Ø of Norway. Brewed with rye and wheat, sea wormwood from the Swedish archipelago, juniper twigs from the Norwegian forests, honey from heather flowers in Telemark and three selected yeast strains from Belgium, Germany and Britain, and of course, some malt and hops too.

Holy Hannah is this an amazing brew!!! The Norwegians are producing some of the best beers out there!! Beautiful honey notes with just a hint of warming alcohol to balance it. Herbaceous and fragrant. Takes beer drinking to a new level. Share this one with you "wine only" friends & I promise they will be blown away!!

Presentation: It was poured from a brown1pt .9oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label has some nice info which includes ingredients, abv% (11%) and bitterness (24 ibu). Appearance: This one wanted to get out as soon as I opened the bottle. Light beige bubbles slowly rose up from the bottle as I then tried to quickly move the bottle to the glass to catch the tasty foam. After it was poured I observed a very cloudy orange/brown colored body full of yeast sediment. In the body tiny champagne like bubbles can be seen streaming up the sides of the glass. The rushed pour produced an average, two finger tall beige head. It was made up of lightly packed foam which settled quickly and left only a very thin film on top. Smell: The aroma is full of sweet honey notes, pine needles, bready, malts and yeast as well as some mild fruity apple skin like notes. Taste/Palate: It has a sweet honey mead like character with loads of sweet bready yeast and fruity estery notes as well. I picked up fruity notes of apple and pear mixed with notes of pine needles and a very slight touch of citrus/pine hop bitterness. The finish is still quite sweet but there is some botanical/herbal bitterness with some very mild hop bitterness for balance. Underneath all of this is a very well hidden mellow alcohol presence. On the palate it has a firm smooth texture with soft yet active carbonation. Notes: For me this beer was absolutely outstanding!!!

Thanks to nbutler11 for a generous split. My God did I love this. Pours a thick, vibrant golden amber which glows beneath a clean linen head. Nose is honeycomb down to the wax, tea and light nutmeg. Flavor is vibrant and balanced: more tea, juniper berries, sap/gum, thick mellow brown honey, sweet grass. Reminded me a lot of that epic bottle of Dalmatienne I had in May. Crazy great achievement.

Great floral nose, very drinkable and balanced with subtle resinous juniper aftertaste.

Bottle from State LIne. The best Sahti IU’ve yet had, bar none. Pours turbid orange w 2f frothy white head. Nose is huge grainy honey malty, with berries. Tastes malty, with big honey flavors, some berries, spruce, florals, spice, yeasty esters, and a rich, very smooth and silky complex finish. Wonderful.

Pours a slightly hazy copper.gold with a white head. Smells of juniper berries, some spice, earthy, some peppery hints, bubblegum. Tastes spicy and sweet with some juniper hints, some heather, Very enjoyable and sharp interpretation of this style, but not a Sahti.

0.5l. Batch 385. Hazy pale beer with off white head. Honey , herbal hop aroma. Spice taste with a thick moutfeel, bit sweet. Some flower tones of the higher alchols emerge. Beautiful honey taste. Well done

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2009 50 cl bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy amber color, big off-white head. The aroma has lots of honey, but also wood. Lovely. The flavor is honey and very nice sweetness. Some will say it´s too sweet, I think it´s lovely sweet. Warming alcohol makes this a sipping beer, and should be shared with a friend. I will taste it again after some agening; maybe it will be a 4+ beer... 8-4-8-4-15=3,9 Update: Tasted again at Patrick´s, Kristiansand. More balanced now, honey is less dominating than some weeks ago. Tasted again at the brewery last saturday: It´s just getting better and better. I love this beer.

0.5l bottle #382 @ The Bishops Arms (Vasagatan), Stockholm. What a treat :) Lightly gushing out the bottle this one pours a deep heavy unfiltered copper orange body with a nice creamy and lasting off-white head. Aroma is quite nice and interesting. Lots of dark wet wood, branches and berries, subtle yet strong hops, sour ripe fermented cowberries and lots of honey. Average to soft carbonation levels with a fantastic creamy and extremely smooth oily mouthfeel. Flavors are also of the wood: wet leafs, branches, cortex, lightly fermented berries, heather honey before it ends with a little hint of nail polish-alcohol and more red berries. Damn, this was original and different - and really good!

Annorlunda och överraskande öl. Smak och doft av honung, strandmalört, malt, humle, enbär. Len, frisk och lagom söt. Bra beska som avrundar det hela galant.
