COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the second release of Special Holiday Ale, which was first brewed in San Diego in 2008. Each brew is following the same recipe, including Michigan chestnuts, white sage from southern California and Norwegian juniper berries, but differences in brewing and aging practices produce different beers. Cheers to being different! Skål!

0,5l bottle,2014. Dark brown, caramel head. Of all my ratings so far,the most distinct beer. Heavy scent of spice. Sage, chestnut, like a spicy schnapps. Good balance between sweet and sour, albeit a bit on the sour side. Lacks bitterness. Overpowering spicy perfume. Very interesting, but not the most friendly taste. I admire this one’s courage.

Bottle at home. Pours copper to dark ruby with small off-white head. Aroma of honey, spices, herbs, liquorice. Sweet taste with some harshness; spices, dried dark fruits and herbs, with sage dominating. Bittersweet, herbal aftertaste.

Keg at Beer Temple, 19th December 14. This is sweet and medicinal, not my sort of beer at all, creamy sweet flavour, weird spiciness.

draught@Au Trappiste - dark brown beer with a solid long lasting creamy beige foam; light toasted and spicy caramelish aroma with notes of brushwood; sweet and full-bodied; light earthy, some residual sweetness and a long spicy and fruity finish with lingering notes of juniper

Copper brown near clear body, fawn 2-3 finger head, not much lacing. Aroma; big bunch of spices and foremost ginger, dough notes, floral hops, wooden malts. Taste; dark brown malts, ginger, citric notes, soft floral hops, malted spiced (juniper maybe) candies. Finishes mostly sweet and spiced, but some herbal hoppy tastes too. Feels soft and nice in the mouth. Overall tasty. SpiceHerb [50cl brown btl, abv8.5%, IBU50, 22°, BB27/3-18, B@Vinmonopolet Tromsdalen, 10€, T@höme]

Smakt hjemme i ølglass. Lukter lakris, smaker mye lakris. Litt for mye. Veldig god i munnen. Passer til riskrem og karamellpudding.

50 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours hazy dark brown with a beige head. A lot of different aromas and tastes in this one. Bread, citrus, sweetness, spices, alcohol, cardamom/ginger, and so on. Really good and interresting beer.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of spice, sage, roasty, bready malts with a touch of dark fruits. Mouthfeel is slick and amazing with plenty of flavor. There is so much here, it’s almost hard to put your fingers on, but i get spices, nutmeg, cloves, nuts, sage, dark malts, dark fruits, and ginger. It’s amazing in every way. This is an outstanding beer.
