4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours inky black, small dark brown head, a bit of lacing. Aroma is very roasty, a bit of peat, chocolate, bourbon. Flavor is the same, medium sweet and light bitter, peaty and roasty, cocoa, vanilla, oak tannins. Full body. Nice beer. Some ABV burn, but pretty small given the fact that it rings in at 16%.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Brewed 29.11.2012, bbe 29.11.2027. Almost two years old bottle, a pitch black beer, a head is weak and light brown. The nose is powerful, liquirice, salt liquirice, roastiness, strong sweetness, some coffee and vanilla. Also some alcohol but it’s not bothering. Taste is balanced, smooth and even easy. Roastiness, salt liquirice, coffee, strong sweetness that is still balanced, some herbal cough medicine. Very tastefull. Full bodied, not stickyness, low carbonation. Great balance, strong and smooth at the same time and even easy. Skillful.

3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Boxed bottle. You enjoy it in sherry glass. You do it as slowly as you can. Maybe a cigar alongside the drink. Malt liqueur at its finest. Not an imperial stout as I know it. Still an amazing drink. Can you drink a bottle and survive?

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a thin espresso lace. Intense cocoa beans aromas with hints of smoke and molasses. Smooth velvety palate, not as big as I would expect from 16%, not totally full body, low carbonation, soy sauce, loads of cocoa nibs and a long bitter cocoa finale. Good stuff !

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Churchkey. Black color (I would hope so!), brown head. Aroma of concentrated cocoa, burnt licorice (my notes say "bent licorice" but I don’t think that smells any different). Taste is burnt espresso, bittersweet dark chocolate. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from BD Birmingham, cellared for about a year. Pours black with very little head. Aroma of roast, peatsmoke, dark fruits, slight soy, lightly boozy. Taste of sweet overripe berries, plums/prunes, light peatsmoke, dry ash, coffee. Lighter body than anticipated, long acid/peaty finish. Must admit I wasn’t expecting as much upfront peat as this considering how the other 2 versions tasted, it’s a bit more challenging than I thought it would be.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at beer festival. Poured a clear dark with a tan head. Smells of roast malt, peat and wet grain. Fills the palate, slightly bitter but deliciously sweet and nutritious. Love it.
