Boxed bottle to pint glass Molasses, soy, dark chocolate, roasted malt, brine. Black with a thin very creamy dark tan head. Taste is soy, coffee, toasted malt, worcestershire sauce, black currants, and licorice. There’s a lot going on in this beer. Wonderful.

0,25l bottle in cardboard box. Best before 29.11.27, brewed 29.11.12. Batch 894/895. Instant aroma of licorice, charcoal and malt. Pitch, oil black with almost no head. The little head there is is brown. Fairly highly carbonated, but thick, oily and soft. The high ABV is cloaked very well. Deep licorice flavour. Decent bitterness and astringency. This is just black and dark with a clear and to the point flavour. No gimmicks, just a really nice imperial stout. Wonderful!

Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of intense espresso, dark bitter chocolate, liquorice, smoke, burned sugar, weak booze and lots of vanilla. The taste is sweet and roasted with notes of smoke, liquorice, espresso, burned sugar and some bitter chocolate. A little hot at the end but this is indeed a good sipper!

From a 250ml bottle on 22/6/2015. Thought I’d had this alrerady but noticed there are three separate entries for the Horizon Tokyo Black combo, brewed in different locales. I previous had the 17.2% brewed at Brewdog. My review suggests I paid 45 bucks for that one, so the Nogne version appears a relative bargain at around $19. Pours the darkest brown with no head. The aroma features quite a bit of soy, coffee, chocolate, caramel and a touch of dark fruit. The flavours are big and intense as you’d expect of a 16 per center. It’s super sweet, with honey, treacle, caramel, fudge, milk chocolate, sultanas, and brown sugar, balanced by a sharpish roasty, slightly vinous hop bitterness. There’s a definite touch of booze but it’s still pretty easy to down. The palate is syrupy and the carbonation low. A lovely, massive dessert beer.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a smooth, tan head. Aroma has licorice, lots of roasted malts, slight smoke, espresso, burned sugar. Taste is very roasty and smokey, nice boozy but smooth texture, slightly ashy and coffee bitterness, subtle sweetness. Very smooth with very well incorporated alcohol in this beer. Average to low carbonation, and again a smooth and velvety mouth feel.

Bottle thanks to Vestergaard and Rasmusott! Pours pitch black with a medium thick dark brown head. Aromas of licorice, tobacco, smoke, slightly boozy, dark chocolate, espresso, dark roasted malts, burned sugar. Taste is roasty, slightly smoky, licorice, dark bitter chocolate, espresso sort of "sourness" to it.

Butelka. Barwa czarna jak smoła, nieprzejrzysta. Konsystencja bardzo gęsta. Tworzy się niska warstwa beżowej piany. Bogaty i złożony aromat ciemnych palonych słodów, czekolady, espresso, śliwki. Smak bardzo intensywny, wysoka słodycz skontrowana wysoką goryczką. Dodatkowo czekolada, kawa, melasa. Odczucie w ustach bardzo wysokie. Oleiste, likierowe. Nagazowanie niskie do średniego, alkohol delikatnie rozgrzewa. W odczuciu duża pełnia i słodycz skontrowana wysoką niezalegającą goryczką. Pijalność zdecydowanie degustacyjna.Potężne piwo.
