Bottle from mane liquor. First beer of 2013! Jet black thick oily pour with a small tanned head. Nose showcases heavy notes of espresso with hints of milk chocolate and maybe vanilla. Taste is quite roasty. More roasted coffee and malts coming through. Hints of smoke too. The rye smooths it out a bit too. Wonderful beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours pitch black with a big thick brown head. Leaves alot of lacing, and it takes a while before it’s all gone. Aroma of licorice and figs. Taste of coffee, licorice and chocolate. Some caramel sweetness and alcohol in the aftertaste.

Poured from a 500ml bottle, thanks to Santa. This is very rich and warming. Lots of chocolate, malty, coffee, the rye adds a slight spicy note. This is very well balanced and tasty.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours deep black, with a thick and dark beige head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, but very interestingly quite hoppy and fruity as well. The mouthfeel is great, thick and oily. Flavour is roasted malts and coffee with some sweetness added in. Slightly bitter aftertaste, but little trace of alcohol. Oh, I like this.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours very dark brown with a big off white head. Nose shows vanilla and milk chocolate with some balanced espresso tones. Quite roasty with a hint of piney hops. Some wood notes and piney hops come through in the taste. Vanilla and sweet milk chocolate finish this one off very smoothly. Great stuff

Bottle. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, earthy and rye aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark toasted bittersweet flavor with medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex beer.

.5 L bottle. It pours a very dark brown/black color with a frothy tan head. The aroma jumps out with a lot of rye, dark chocolate and potent piney/spicy hops. Theres a hint of caramel as well. The flavor has more caramel, dark chocolate, earthy rye maltiness and some piney hops. Very full bodied with lower than normal carbonation. Smooth. Hoppier than I expected and very good.
