On tap at Frisco Taphouse ($13/10oz): pours an opaque oily black with a creamy froth of beige head. Has a rich, sweet dark caramel malty nose with a touch of toasted rye and dark chocolate. Starts with robust fullness and plenty of chewy sweet dark malts with a hint of smoke and some raisins before a semi-sweet dark chocolate finish. True to style with good complexity.

500 ml bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, spicy rye, and some molasses. It tastes like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, rye, coffee, wood, and a bit of licorice. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and has moderate carbonation. It’s also smooth and easy enough to drink. I think this is a good overall brew, I’d certainly buy this again. $9.99 a bottle.

Rich rye aroma, loevly full body. Sticky rye-bread everywhere. Yummy body, just so scrumptious. I love the rich rye that permeates the body. Fuck, fuck, fuck, this is a great beer.

500ml bottle (as a Bday present from FatPhil & Anna, thanks). Deep brown, almost black color. Tiny brown head surrounds the glass. Malty, roast, licorice, hops, grassy, floral aroma. Deep deep roast, malty, grainy, slightly sweet, grassy hops in flavor. Alcohol in aftertaste. But still wonderful beer. Thank you!

500 ml bottle. Black, with a tiny beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, dark chocolate and rye bread. The flavour is roasted malty, dryish, slightly acidic, with chocolate, coffee and rye. Nicely roasted finish. Very tasty.

Talking about porters, this is almost like a stout. So smooth palate and taste, almost creamy. But aroma and taste itself is very textbook like, although almost too smooth to be a porter. Still, there are those roasted flavors. Licorice, malts. Wide taste spectrum and sufficiently masked taste of alcohol. Sufficient carbonation. Despite of a lack of some edge (as a porter), this surely is the best of it’s kind this far.

No head and all almost. Coffee and some roasted flavor, a little tiny bit of sourness. Smooth as silk very easy to drink for the strength and bigness. Good. Serving:Bottle
