Pours a completely blck colour with a really big, creamy, long lasting brown head. Strong aroma roasted barley, rye, chocolate and coffee, with the roasted barley as the main smell. Flavour the same, maybe with a more weight on the coffee now, together with nuts and leaves. Quite a complex flavour, but also with a good balance and the alcohol aren’t noticible until the beer are going down the troat. Quite bitter aftertaste. Full bodied as expected and suiting low carbonation. A really good brew, like a classic, well-brewed porter with more to it. Loved it all the way.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Day Two. Pours black with a creamy, beige head. Has quite a fruity nose, some ripe grapes and berries, moderate roast. Medium to big sweet flavor with plenty of chocolaty dark malts, burnt wood and a bit of whisky-like hard alcohol. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with restrained cocoa, some dark, dried fruits, bitter cocoa. It’s a nice beer and well-rounded, but just doesn’t have anything to push it into ’great’ territory.

500ml bottle at home. Aroma of chocolate and coffee, liquorice and roasty as well. A small beige-cappuccino head. Black, slight hint of red. Medium sweetness, lightly bitter. Full body, a slightly oily texture and average carbonation. Long finish. Enjoyed this imperial rye porter a lot!

Bottled at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Göteborg, during "Porterveckan 2012". Sold by 5 or 10 cl, I had 5. On November 25, 2012.
Black color, brown head. Sweet, spicy, alcohol, a bit acidic scent. Spicy, malty, alcohol, metallic taste. Metallic aftertaste, also roasted. Smooth a bit ropey mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2013 Epic rye porter. Pours pitch black with small brown head. Leaves an oily film around the glass when swirled. Lovely warming aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Taste is same and with liquorice and slight ash. Really nice bitter finish, well ballanced. MOAR!

Pours a dark black color with no head. Good lacing. Mostly chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma with a hint of some spice. Taste has a slight sweetness, moderate bitterness. Smooth chocolate with a slightly spicy rye finish. A bit thin in the mouthfeel but makes this a very easy to drink imperial porter. Really good.

Clear black body, reddish hue, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, soy sauce, liquorice, coffee, hops and rough cacao. Sweetish flavour, rye, quite bitter and roasted malts. Quite creamy, full body, lasting bitter finish, hops and bitter coffee.
Another great beer by Nøgne Ø.
