Present from GT2. Pour is black with large tan head with good retention and lacing. Aroma is baking chocolate, fresh roasted coffee and Biscoff cookies. Yum! Taste is similar with the acidic coffee balanced out by a creamy softness. Silky mouthfeel and very balanced palate. Not too bitter, and definitely not to sweet. Quite dry. The rye really rounded this out quite nicely.

500mL from Bine&Vine. Pours clear, deep ruby. Massive, dense, mocha foam. Huge retention and complete webby lacing. Nose is Khalua, Baileys, waxy dark chocolate. Moves to cured black olive and animal. Taste is very dry, coffee acid, lemon, waxy dark chocolate. Dry, acidic coffee finish. Palate feels silky but still very dry and roasty. The longer I sit with this the better it gets. Not as olive brine heavy and harsh as Nogne O stouts and not sweet and decadent like Terrapin stouts. This is a great balance, no residual sugar, no off flavors. Very dense, melted chocolate bar palate. I guess one of those that is greater than the sum of its parts. Fiancé rating: 4.2

Bottle. BBE 10/02/2017. Pours black with a small ring of dark mocha-colored bubbles. Aroma is quite roasy: Sweet roasted rye malt. Like smelling a fresh loaf of malt rye bread or a batch of rye bread dough ready for baking. A light touch of ethanol is detectable as well if you look for it. Taste is somewhat sweet, lots of rye in the beginning with a lot of roast as well. Quite a bit of coffee on the finish with a touch of chocolate. Rye stays throughout. Dries up on the finish with a light touch of wooden hops. Chocolate and rye on the aftertaste. Palate is full and oily.

16.9 oz bottle. Dark brown with a big bubbled tan head; sheets of lace. Nose is chocolate, rye, dates and molasses. Medium to full body with a tang. Taste is coffee and milk chocolate, getting bitter with licorice, fading into a dry rye finish. Simple but well conceived and executed.

Bottle. Pours black with tan brown head. Nose and taste of rye, roasted chocolate malt, roasted coffee, vanilla and milk chocolate. Finishes quite dry with a rye/chocolate finish. Nice roast up front. Body is on the thinner side of medium for an imperial porter.

Bottle from mane liquor. First beer of 2013! Jet black thick oily pour with a small tanned head. Nose showcases heavy notes of espresso with hints of milk chocolate and maybe vanilla. Taste is quite roasty. More roasted coffee and malts coming through. Hints of smoke too. The rye smooths it out a bit too. Wonderful beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours pitch black with a big thick brown head. Leaves alot of lacing, and it takes a while before it’s all gone. Aroma of licorice and figs. Taste of coffee, licorice and chocolate. Some caramel sweetness and alcohol in the aftertaste.
