Bottle. This is a killer porter with the nice dry dustiness of rye on the side.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the Farmer’s Cabinet for beer week. Aroma is amazing. I described it as Wookie Jack without the hops. Great stinging rye with a good chocolate roasty back. Pours black with a very small white head. The taste is unbelievable. Rye, chocolate, licorice, caroway, coffee, and pepper. I would love to share this beer with everyone.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice well rounded brew overall with a dark completely opaque black body and tan head. The nose is rich and roasted with big boisterous coffee and rye toast notes. A bit sweet and dessert like with sweet chocolate and buent espresso flavours. Overall a warm finish with lingering roasted bitterness. A nice brew!

Sample from tap, CBF 2012. Pitch black colour with a dark brown head. Sweet and roasted aroma with malt, caramel, rye and bread. Sweet taste with malts, roasted notes, chocolate and rye. Full body with an oily texture. Long lasting, bitter finish. The best experience at this festival.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark black color with no head. Good lacing. Mostly chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma with a hint of some spice. Taste has a slight sweetness, moderate bitterness. Smooth chocolate with a slightly spicy rye finish. A bit thin in the mouthfeel but makes this a very easy to drink imperial porter. Really good.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle b761. Black, thickish, nonexistent head. Big chocolate roasted malt aroma. Feels soft, vanilla. A bit of licorice, molasses. Very ’normal’ imperial stout like. Body is full, soft, thick. Long. Roasted malts, a bit of espresso. Some wooden flavours. Quite nice IS/IP. I’m not sure what the rye contributed to the flavour palette, but I guess it’s possible to sense some ryeness when you know about it. Otherwise a very nice black drink. Reminds me of Divide’s products.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep, dark brown/black pour with a smaller brown head. Aroma is dark fruits, some coffee, chocolate and spicy hops. Taste is some mocha, chocolate, sweet caramel, spicy/sour from the rye, roasted malts, earthy hops. Overall, it was ok, but not a great brew due to the fact that the rye just didn’t work perfectly for me in the finish.
