0,5 l bottle rated at home. Pours a clear near black mahogany body covered by a small dense brown head that leaves beautiful laces on the glass. Inviting coffee, raisin and dark chokolate on the nose, quite boozy too bringing thoughts of cognac to mind. Coffee and sweet liquorice explodes and rides the full bodied and alco warm mouth feel right through to the end that lasts and lasts. Lovely roasted notes and a pleasant bitterness. Well balanced and smooth to drink. Rich and complex. A true delight.

Bottle @ Nieuwjaarsborrel 2014, courtesy of jmgreenuk. Pours a very dark brown beer with a small brown head on top. Aroma is grainy, rye and has some licorice. Flavor is very sweet with a big grainy base in it. The sweetness is backed up by a big bitter flavor in the back. Balance is very good in this beer, yet it’s missing a few components to be a great beer. Still quite good.

Bottled. Pours deep brown with a large , beige head, that leaves a good lacing on the glass. Nose of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and licorice. Sweet flavor with a more dry and bitter. Full bodied, creamy texture and soft CO2. An excellent brew. ★★★★

It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of malt, grain, chocolate and coffee. The taste was of roasted malt, grain, chocolate, licorice and coffee. Good stuff.

(Nøgne Ø / Terrapin Imperial Rye Porter) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 9% Totally black and thick pour, minimal dark brown head that builds up though, still with low retention. A thin line of lacing around the glass. Aroma has alcohol, vanilla, chocolate, light roasted character. Taste has also roasted malts, a bit pf ash on the finish, vanilla, notable alcohol. Medium thick body, good carbonation, dry and sticky at the same time on the palate. Great beer, not much difference from a well made imperial stout, I could drink this the whole day.

Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Pours dark brown in color with a creamy tan head. Roasted coffee, dark chocolate and some rye in aroma. Slight tones of some milk chocolate in aroma as well. Flavor is mostly roasted coffee and roasted malt. Feels very smooth. Slightly hoppy in aftertaste. The ABV is well hidden. Filling and quite heavy to drink. Some licorice also in aftertaste.

Man what a great imperial porter. Takes me back to the first one I ever had. Aroma was so so. Deep dark chocolate with just a hint of coffee. Pour was a think ink back with a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was delicious. Strong dark chocolate with heavy black licorice flavors. Very big flavor. Strong bitter dark chocolate with the rye coming out in the finish. It was just enough to be noticed and not overpowering. Medium carbonation. Can’t say enough about this one. Great for the style and in general

10 oz pour. At Tyler’s Apex. good aroma. Soysauce. Chocolate. Dark orangy blackish brown color. Good head that faded to a ring. Minor lace. Bittersweet flavor. Thick body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish good, yet not one I’m getting excited about. Has too much of that soysauce.
