Rich rye aroma, loevly full body. Sticky rye-bread everywhere. Yummy body, just so scrumptious. I love the rich rye that permeates the body. Fuck, fuck, fuck, this is a great beer.

Half liter bottle from Oak Tree Buy Rite, S. Plainfield. Pours a clear dark brown color with a large frothy dark brown head. Good head retention. Roasted malt, chocolate, rye aroma with some fruitiness. The taste is strong rye, nuts, roast, honey, chocolate and a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Quite tasty.

500mL from Bine&Vine. Pours clear, deep ruby. Massive, dense, mocha foam. Huge retention and complete webby lacing. Nose is Khalua, Baileys, waxy dark chocolate. Moves to cured black olive and animal. Taste is very dry, coffee acid, lemon, waxy dark chocolate. Dry, acidic coffee finish. Palate feels silky but still very dry and roasty. The longer I sit with this the better it gets. Not as olive brine heavy and harsh as Nogne O stouts and not sweet and decadent like Terrapin stouts. This is a great balance, no residual sugar, no off flavors. Very dense, melted chocolate bar palate. I guess one of those that is greater than the sum of its parts. Fiancé rating: 4.2

Medium brown-beige head over well-carbonated black beer. Ink, mocha, chocolate - both bitter and sweet. Then cheesy hops flaring up, as well as alcohol/fusels. Bitter, woody, hoppy and again lots of chocolate - probably chocolatemalt indeed. Something herbal playing, as basil after being heated. Feels well-carbonated, spritzy. Long, quite bitter-roasted aftertaste. Severe, but convincing porter.

My Bottom Line :
Black pepper-laden caramel and roasted malts move into molasses and resinous hops in this rich and flavorful dessert brew.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam covers the brown-edged blackness.
-The long malty finish is endearing.
-Some chocolate peers through here and there.
-This one’s begging for a peppery steak.
