COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2015 Since I poured it and it was so creamy I knew that I would have found paradise there. Dark copper appearance, thin head, medium sweet, dry fruit, smooth and creamy. Medium sweet finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Batch #1311, about 6 months old. Opaque light mahogany body. Hoppy aroma with American hops and sweet dried fruit. Sweet hoppy taste with more dried fruits: dates, white raisins etc. Hops feel kind of "green" with notes of apple peel. Sweet syrupy finish. The high level of hoppiness brings some balance but somehow the sweetness still prevails. This needs to spend another 6 months in the cellar - too sweet now.

Pours mahogany with small fully diminishing off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty and hoppy, raisins, citron, orange, dough. Earthy yeast aromas. Notes of bubble gum, plum, peach and liquorice. Some metallic in the aroma. Taste is enormous sweet with surprisingly bitter finish. Long aftertaste, good balance. Light acidic, medium alcoholic. Palate is full, carbonation is soft.

2014 bottle. Thanks AFH Dark plum orange 1 finger yellowish head. January 2014 Purchase date. Nose is really interesting. A little bit of copper, smoke, pennies, raw grain. Taste is pretty good. It actually has grape juice, plum, muscat, some lemon rind. It’s very interesting. turned from like a barleywine to a pale wheat ale with a high ABV. turned interesting and I like it

500 ml bottle purchased back on 12 January 2014, spilt two ways. Dark garnet color with mild head retention. Aroma is layers of dark fruits, no kidding. Hints of cinnamon, brown sugar and yeast. Wow, the flavor is very sugary. The yeast comes through after all the dark fruit and sugar with a mild citrus tone underneath. Also a burnt grain note. Mild bitterness that helps the malt base. The carbonation gives a nice smoothness on the tongue. I like it.
