COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Bottle. Brown dark. Resinous piney, chocolate malts. Full bodied, bitter. Very flavourful, intensive. Roasty, but piney hoppy. Interesting. Nice.

Appears very dark almost black ruby red. Head is minimal and fade quickly. Aroma is of malty slightly chocolate syrup and sickly hops in the background. Very smooth sweet.

Delicious aroma of suet pudding, liquorice, honey, cough medicine. Taste is initially bitter with dark chocolate, malt and a superb bitter/sweet balance. Tastes like a barley wine/IPA crossbreed and smooth as you like and a hint of smoke in the slight bitter finish.

lesifflebiere (1213) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 15, 2014

Pours a very dark brown with mimimal white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of wine and grapes and some barley. Flavours of roasted malt, dates and figs. This is a really great Barley Wine.

Un orange très sombre, presque marron, avec une petite mousse marron/beige. L’arôme des fruits noir et du caramel. Le goût est très similaire et intense avec une finale un peu amer.

Bottle from Hop City. Pours a dark reddish amber with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma of caramel and malts. Dark fruits show through on the taste with some booziness.

Pours a dark amber, almost burnt red. Thick foamy tan head that stays long. Lots of sticky lacing. Nose is boozy with notes of dried fruits. Taste is quite well-balanced with sultry, boozy sweetness and a nice, distinct hop bite. Medium body. Quite lively carbonation. This is a fireplace evening brew. Very nice!
