Sweet yet with some roasted notes of the fragrance. Strong bitter taste but sweet. Long aftertaste, becoming a little nutty flavor. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2013 Bottle at Bruuveri, Helsinki. Pours dark brown with a medium-sized thick and frothy head. Aroma of strong exotic fruitiness, citrus and some caramel and toffee; also a clear yeasty spicy element which is not surprising given the visible yeast sediments in the glass. Taste is initially sweet with caramel and fudge but then turns into an explosion of different hop notes; especially exotic fruitiness is notable. Heavy bitterness in the finish. Palate is full bodied and sticky with a low carbonation. The taste is extremely rich and intense. This is definitely one of my favourite beers that shows well what this brewery is capable of. I’d maybe categorize this as an American style barley wine.

Great execution of an unconventional style - like an IPA + Belgian tripel or quadrupel - even if it's not necessarily a style I love. A little bit too raisin-y and salty; wish it had a stronger hop presence. Very malty, sweet molasses, ripe banana. Looks great - deep rich mahogany colour with barely any head. Can see why it has such a high rating even if it doesn't speak to my particular tastes.

Bottle 500ml @home from Vinmonopolet. First thing that strikes me is the amazing colour! Dark brownish with medium head. Head almost disappears after a little while. Aroma: Lots of smells, I won?t even start to guess all of them, but the presence of chocolate, hops and sweet fruits is there. Taste is massive, chocolate, caramel, really sweet fruits of some kind and alcohol. Gets really bitter towards the end, reminds me of Kinns Vestkyst India øl regarding finishing bitterness. This is apparently a beer that ages well, and will lose some of its bitterness if stored. Mine was brewed just 6 months ago (batch 945), so no wonder it?s a little stiff on the finish. Slightly better than Nøgne Ø?s other DIPAs Two Captains and #500. Only DIPA I rate higher (of the 4-5 I?ve tasted) is Brewdogs Hello my name is Ingrid. Tastebuds are now officially thrashed!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours murky brown with minimal head. Aroma of toffee, English hops and chocolate. Taste is very sweet up front with caramel, leading to mild, herbal bitterness that carries through a long time boozy finish. Hmm... This definitely tastes like more of a barley wine than IIPA to me. Really neat nonetheless.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Intoxicating aroma (no pin intended... Ok, pun intended) of caramel/honey and malt. Higher in malt presence for a IIPA, but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you look for in your beer. Very nice non-American alternative for a hoppy brew. The color is a beautiful creamy mahogany. I will most assuredly be back.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle of 500 ml. Black color with some reddish sparkle light foam that vanishes little by little. Intense typical smell. In mouth a tone to sweet enough candy with shades to dried fruits and ultimately a soft bitterness. Of average and creamy body. I like it.
