Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Kettle caramelized aroma with notes of bread. Appearance is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Flavor has notes of dark caramel, plums, licorice with slight hints of roast. Being aged, most of the hop aroma and flavor is gone. Mouthfeel is full with medium light carbonation. Overall, it's a good barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Well, fragrant, but the bitterness much obscured. More than dipa, not barley wine

500 ml bottle. Dark brown with beautiful white head. Aroma is malty with dried fruits and a bit of chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is just stunning - malty, hoppy with great taste of dried fruits (like plums, apples). No sign of intrusive alcohol. Impressive!

First time tasted 26.april this year, I gave it a poor 1,5 in score. Much have happend with my tastebuds since then, and it's truly worth a 4 in overall score!

Pours dark brown with a thin but creamy off-white head. Sweet and complex aroma of caramel and dried fruits with some vinous esters and belgian yeast. Full body, thick feel, soft carbonation. Taste starts off with roasted malt and lemon zest before moving towards a drier note of licorice and ash with a hint of dark chocolate. The 10% ABV is heartwarming, but not intrusive at all. Long finish with pine and bitter hops. Truly awesome!

Draught at The Euston Tap, London on 4 Aug 2012. Poured a very dark brown, with a dense off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, citrus peal and pine needles. Toasted malt in the flavour, with some molasses and resinous hops. Finish was chewy grain, burnt sugar and lingering bitterness.

Darkish red-brown under thin white head. Decent aroma intensity rich with fresh hops, roast and nutty malt and some fruity esters. Full bodied, medium carbonated and up-front bitter. The midpalate gives a lot of dried fruit, faint cocoa and hoppy resin, alcohol heaviness. The finish holds the fruit well until dominated by the lasting hoppy and roast bitterness. It’s certainly complex and interesting.
