Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Tap @ basement beer bar, Aalborg. Aroma of caramel malt, more malt, citrus hops. Dark red, no head. Heavy sweetness, moderate bitterness, alcohol. Full body, thick, sticky feel, light carbonation, alcohol malt finish.

Bottle. Brewed 170315, BB 170320. Dark brown appearance with some red tones, sparkling clear. Light brown foam. Nose is hoppydominant with some piney flavors and some chocolate and plumlike tones pushing through. Taste is well balanced as it comes to sweetness and bitterness. Although I prefer the DIPA to be rather unbalanced to the bitter side I really enjoy this due to the complexity of using chocolate malt. Definitely rather a Black DIPA than a barley wine!

This is one of the most complex beers I’ve ever tasted. It has a really nice and lightly sparkling foam. The aroma is characterized by chocolate, plums, sour apple, pine needles, a little yeast and lots of alcohol. It tastes very composed of ripe fruit, a little chocolate, a little anise and a large malty fullness. This is a somewhat bold beer, which has a great thermal effect due to the high alcohol content which will come through on the taste significantly.

Nutty brown appearance with little head. Complex tastes of hops, caramel, dark sweet malt, dried fruits, chocolate and coffee. Good mouth feel, with a long aftertaste of roasted caramel, but slightly too much carbonation

Amber-copper relatively clear colour with a beige pillowy head with really good lacings and viscousity. Aromas of strawberry jam, sweet rasiin fruit cake, hay, sultanins, herbal and sweet black currant develop. Smooth carbonation and velvety texture offering a full body with herbal fruit-cake sweetness with a soft astringent-bitterness. Well balanced alcohol aromatic flavours. Lasting pleasant finish.

Nøgne Ø #100 I believe was the 2nd beer from this brewery that I have tasted. Mahogany in color with a very thick beige head, aroma was full of roasted malt, caramel and quite piney. Quite a lot of hops in this DIPA, slightly unbalanced with the maltiness of this beer. Quite a complex flavor to this beer, everything from roasted malt/coffee to licorice and bitter piney hops. This beer has tones of bitter chocolate and some nuttiness in the initial taste, but the body of this beer is quite bitter and roasted. Medium bodied brew that has some cola and caramel sweetness with the bitterness of the hops to the front in both the aroma and body of the beer. This makes the finish quite bitter but with the carbonation and body weight of the beer, it balances out quite well.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2015 Murky amber body with a tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, liquorice, grapefruit peel, milk chocolate, wood. Tastes sweet, malty, almost chocolate-y upon entering the mouth; a strong bitterness follows which is slightly woody and very herbal. The aftertaste is bitter and dry and lasts quite some time. Sticky mouthfeel. Well balanced.

Bottle, pours a cloudy Amber with an off white head. Aroma is pine and grapefruit. Taste is upfront bitterness with pine, grapefruit and resin notes. A little bit imbalanced with bitterness but still a nice drop.
